Angel Hair was a five-piece from Colorado whose music would grow to be associated with the chaotic, inventive San Diego scene of the early nineties. Bands such as Heroin, Antioch Arrow, Swing Kids, Clikitat Ikatowi and Mohinder are good reference points, but Angel Hair had a unique intensity that not even their West Coast peers could match. Pregnant with the Senior Class, put out on the prolific Gravity Records, is the band’s entire discography, spanning an LP, an EP and material from several splits.

I'm almost surprised to see this review here. I picked this up a year ago after having it in my cart for 2 more years. Meh, it was alright - I guess I just expected more after hearing how crucial it was to the screamo or whatever movement. Still a decent cd though. that DNA is upside down Angel Hair were so good. Mohinder was great too. I was into a lot of this stuff along with the more mellow midwestern bands, brings back good memories for sure. By the way, if anyone wants to get this, your best bet is probably to visit the Gravity Records website and do a mailorder there. They've put out a lot of great shit. I enjoy this CD, but I don't think it's quite as good as, say, the Heroin discography. It's a little same-y, and kinda wears on you. I like the Bauhaus cover a lot. Classic emo that deserves to be remembered and listened to, but not exactly an everyday thing. yea this band was amazing. and like most bands i say that about, way before my time. it's great that so many 90's/early2000's bands are getting their discographies put out, well, great for me at least. Yes they were a great band. |
