Post-rock bands tend to occupy a very particular niche. Whether it’s familiarity or lack of creativity that breeds such levels of comfort, the fact is that not many bands in the genre branch past their bread-and-butter. With Explosions in the Sky, you know you’re going to be getting the same sweeping crescendos of albums past; with the Mercury Program, it’s always a decidedly electronic affair.

Needs more Elzhi. i'd rather listen to mike jones than this yawnfest. this band bores the fuck out of me. actually, this whole instrumental, bullshit "epic" genre full of degenerative post-sigur ros emotive slog bores the fuck out of me. I've been streaming this record while studying lately. Good stuff. I think this band is kind of mislabeled. can't get into this band and i'm usually a pretty hefty post rock fan. Very good band. Didn't really dig their stuff on their split with This Will Destroy You oops, wrong score is this the album that's streaming somehwere on this website? if so, i was surprised to find I liked it. | Features
