A wise man once described redundant, nonsensical and altogether unnecessary information by bringing together the words “shitty” and “info,” thereby birthing the term “shinfo.” Toronto’s dd/mm/yyyy (articulated “day-month-year”) have in effect created the sonic equivalent to shinfo by stringing together 12 obnoxious combinations of shinfonious noise that don’t seem to elude to anything and dubbing it Black Square.

blahblahblah bitchbitchbitch no one likes the music i do whinewhinewhine That's some pretty cool cover art though. "No, but it looks like this site is filled with a bunch of people who are selective readers and only interpret things to mean something that will allow them to respond with "fighting" words/snarky comebacks. To get it past your dense head, I will rewrite what I wrote so that you will hopefully get what I mean: Hey, it's still less bitchy than Pitchfork. The Internet: serious business. No, but it looks like this site is filled with a bunch of people who are selective readers and only interpret things to mean something that will allow them to respond with "fighting" words/snarky comebacks. To get it past your dense head, I will rewrite what I wrote so that you will hopefully get what I mean: You mean, you could say "no one likes the new Propagandhi album"? Try saying it. The results will be hilarious. Funny, I could say the same about that new Propagahndi album... these review's get "written, then written off" because no one likes crap like this. Hey inagreendase, looking back at the gushing reviews you mentioned, yes you've done so and that is great. My comment wasn't so much an attack on the actual writers/editors of this site, but the readers and commenters on here who respond to them. However I do feel like the site as a whole doesn't always giving those bands the proper attention they deserve. It's almost like those reviews get written, then written off because the demographic doesn't want to hear about them. The review above makes some valid points, not all that I agree with, but agree to disagree. I think the album has the ability to be one that sounds better in retrospect, much like Liars' "They Wrong So We Drowned" is despite being panned for the most part upon it's initial release. I definitely enjoy these dudes. Solid album. I enjoy these guys. The review didn't let you know what they sounded like at all though... Michael Jackson Jordan -- we've given pretty gushing reviews to every band you mentioned, you know. I'm talking about Liars / Blood Brothers / Animal Collective. I meant to give the album an 8 out of 10, thinking at first the scale was rating it at a 4 out of 5 when I hit post. Haha of course this site didn't like this album. It only goes to show how one-dimensional the site as a whole is because it constantly parades the "awesome small melodic punk band gets 5 stars but oh wait they're about to blow up so now everybody needs to hate them in two months!" banner (*cough*Alkaline Trio and Lawrence Arms in 2000*cough*Against Me! in 2002*cough*The Gaslight Anthem in 2008*cough*) while pretending to be a site that thinks outside of the usual punk rock box but then tries and has no idea what it's talking about. Well, this is no surprise that you've given this album barely any score at all because you're clearly inept at understanding artsier forms of punk that incorporate more than just power chord riffs into their songs and uses styles of tribal beats, Score is for the shinfo reference. One of the few bands I have ever walked out on. Absolutely horrible. Worst band name. terrible. |
