This Town Needs GunsThis Town Needs Guns: AnimalsAnimals (2009)Sargent House Reviewer Rating: 3.5 User Rating: Contributed by: InaGreendaseBrian (others by this writer | submit your own) Sargent House seem to be cornering the market on math rock, but This Town Needs Guns is one of their finest finds yet. Picking up the U.S. release for the UK band's debut full-length, Animals, this is just the type of delicate and emotional, intricately woven songs that all of us hailing Look Mexico.

I'd never heard of these guys ... but this shit was fucking amazing!!! Thanks for the review! It was like Dakota Dakota with the Strokes vocals. Can't argue with that! Love it! I fucking love Waxwing and Cap n Jazz, but this band is just bad. Dude who's jockin' em, have you seen 'em live? They're terrible. Hah, it's weird, I have no problem with his voice whatsoever. Maybe you guys aren't used to english voices? I dunno. Blackjaw: Shoutout and Rugget... I guess you never got into Rocky Votolato? Or his band, Waxwing? Shame. I usually love Kinsella influenced music... but this dudes voice is horrible This is one of the best bands I have heard in ages. It's like Rocky Votolato singing over Cap'n Jazz, Make Believe or Algernon Cadwallader playing at their very best. Easy 5 stars. Good shit. I think this will be on loop for a while. I'm a big Maps & Atlases fan but i really don't think of this as that similar. Also everyone should check out Tera Melos. I'm yet to get in to maps & atlases, heard one good ep and one ep that was a bit shit, really. the split with cats and cats and cats is 1000000x better. this album is the opposite of dynamic...it's the same shit for forty minutes! Score is for these guys, Battles, and Cats and Cats and Cats. I like the music, but the vocals are too much for me. I would recommend Maps and Atlases instead. For anyone who likes this, I reccomend their split with Cats And Cats And Cats, the record the two bonus tracks are off and probably a better record than this. Cats are also a really great band. |
