| Bridge and Tunnel / OK Pilotlive in Birmingham2009 live show Review by: spoon_of_grimbo See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on May 5th 2009
Situated by the canal, with a large outdoor deck full of picnic tables, you might wonder if you were at the right place for a punk rock gig, as The Flapper seems, from the outside, like a friendly family pub. But go inside and down a flight of stairs and you'll find yourself in the kind of sweatbox venue that ALWAYS makes for a fun and intimate gig. And for his first gig at the venue, promoter Kev (representing the West Midlands DIY Collective) has clearly started as he means to go on, booking a frankly brilliant lineup for the night.

fuck... i really should have got that one shouldn't i? this is what i get for pulling two all-nighters in a row to get coursework done :S mate im from yorkshire, i have only lived here since october last year chunder town? what's that? i'm still not up to speed on the local slang despite having lived around coventry for three years now... OK pilot are amazing saw them that same week again with shot baker. also spot on with the glass and ashes comparison. OK Pilot are awesome. I saw them at the pre-Fest show at 1982 last year and they totally blew me away. Can't wait for a full-length from them. to breakout - yeah that's me, assuming you're the guy who i was drunkenly talking to about vinyl on the bus after the OWTH gig? haha, ditto about it loud! I thought it was just me getting old... well that could still be it. Is it you I was talking to about off with their heads in leam? It was insanely loud to the extent that i had to stand further back which wasn't too great. |
