St Patrick’s Day Weekend, Boston MA, Lansdowne Street, Avalon Ballroom… 2 straight days of Dropkick Murphys. With 6 Guinness and 6 Harp hidden in a backpack I got on the 1:17 train to head down for the start of my St Patrick’s Day weekend in the great city of Boston. I would celebrate with the Kings of Nuthin’, Piebald, Frenzal Rhomb, The Ducky Boys, and of course the Dropkick Murphys. Is this the show they just bootlegged on their Epitaph live album? This was the best show I have ever been to. Damone, Ash and Joe Gittleman's (Bosstones) band Avoid One Thing opened. After Avoid One Thing played a great set I went towards the back of the Avalon to look at AOT's merch. Suddenly I walk past DKM guitarist James Lynch, I ended up getting my picture taken with him and it was awesome. That guy is the man! Well to start off the Murphys set they had the Boston Police Pipers play an intro for Spicy. They started off the set with "For Boston." They played so many great songs that night it was amazing. They even played "Dirty Water" with guest vocals by Dicky Barret. And "The Kids Are Alright." What a great St. Paddy's Day weekend!! I saw the one on Saturday the 16th, with Kings of Nothing and Piebald. the best ever: Mike and Dicky Barrett doing the ACDC part of skinhead together at the Garage in London, November 1997! i went to these shows. they were fun as hell! on the 16th me & my friends started the "emo sucks" chant up in front and flipped them off. on st. patrick's day i was the very first girl on stage during the "spicy mchaggis jig", i am proud of myself for that. Boston rules!!! I hate you because you went and I didn't. YOu shoulda been over here (ireland). Pub i was in people were dancing on the rafters. No seriously, there were rafters across the roof in the pub and people climbed up on them and danced like hell. All together now - "You'll never beat the irish". |
