I’ll keep the introduction short because you probably know it all already. Dave House is in the Steal. This is his third album under his own name, and his longest-standing project. He is a London-based singer-songwriter who has increasingly begun to expand to a full-band setup and yes, you could apply the same description to Frank Turner if you wanted to.

This album is really, really good. He's got a great voice. The whole album makes me think of the Weakerthans, and that, friends, is an excellent thing. brilliant record! "lungs" has instantly become a favourite, as in, EVER. It would be a real shame not to see this record on this year's top 10. The Steal are great and this pretty neat as well @davehouse If you're playing anywhere in Ohio, I'll be there for sure. Thank you - and thanks for not filling this up with Dave Hause related comments! This is still in my top ten for 2009. It'll be hard for it to stay there with all the releases yet to drop, but damn. Great album. I agree with the dude below me. Such an amazing release that is surely in my top 10 of the year. Normally I don't listen to a lot of music like this, but his membership in The Steal directed me towards his solo stuff and I'm so glad he did. His other records are amazing, but I agree with the reviewer in terms of this being a solid listen start to finish. Great job Dave. One of the very very best releases this year, or any year really. This record is so incredibly good. I don't expect him to ever top this, but maybe he can in the future. Some of my favorite songs in a long time. "Rails" was instantly a classic for me the second I heard it. I enjoy this album. It's sounds Weakerthans-esque sometimes there are entirely too many Daves in punk rock. I was going to make a snarky comment about the reviewer misspelling Dave Hause's name...but I guess this is a different dude.... |
