When many of you look under the big bold letters of the band Finch, you will most likely see the label "Drive-Thru." Most of you know this label, and will immediately stop reading this review. For those of you who do not know about this label I will take the time to tell your asses why the fuck this label is trash. Please login or register to post comments. Didn't quite care for the lesson on Drive-thru records but the review was better than the other What it is to burn review. I love this cd, classic in my opinion. Finch is a solid band. the fact you're too cowardly to post with any sort of name means you probably know shit and actually care what people think of you. that person was only saying what they think of a pretty good band like Finch and maybe you should consider what they said. it doesnt matter what type of music you listen to, you have to look at the talent and effort in a band. i like a selection of different music; punk, emo, old school...etc. people have a different opinion on things and my opinion towards you is that you must have been dropped on your big fat head once or twice. fuck off back to nursary you fat bitch I know any real discussion about this review finished 3 years ago, but I felt I had to post SOMETHING after I read the post below me and realised it's probably the STUPIDEST thing I've seen on this site. Seriously, YOU should see a doctor, no...wait..I'll save you some time and diagnose you myself: you're an idiot. Oh and even if I could possibly classify this band under one of my favorite "genres" of music, it would still suck. It was a lousy cd in 2002 and let me tell ya, this style of music sure hasn't gotten any better. i dont really give a shit wat genre a band falls under, if u do u might as well fuckin suck dick, like the music u listen to, it should be about the music, and the talent that a band displays, and finch obviously has talent, with awesome guitar riffs, accompanied by lyrics that couldnt be better, like from "what it is to burn" , "the sky is bleeding above me, and im blistering....like a bad star im falling faster down to her, shes the only one who know what it is to burn..." Good CD, but I think it is a bit over-hyped. why do people care what genre a band is. if the songs sound good, they sound good. and why does everyone try and like bands within a genre that aren't good at all. you would have to be a moron with a shitty ear for music to not like this cd God I hate Finch. I don't really have anything against Drive-thru or most of the bands on it, but lordy lordy do Finch suck. Sure they might be radio friendly, and appeasing to some children, but yet they have no talent. The single "what it is to burn" is the most overplayed piece of dogshit ever. I would definently classify them as wanna-be numetal done totally wrong. Why are they even reviewed on this site? Finch = everything that could possibly be cool. i was actually thinking about basing my life around them from this point on. just another drive-thru band that claims they are hard b/c they are the hardest thing since allister..err..starting line..err..wait homegrown and the movielife. eh. whatever. fuck 'em "One thing that you are definetely right on is that the example of lyrics was not their best. So try something like this from the song, "Post Script." "I wish it didn't hurt, hurt like this to say these things to you. I'll sacrifice one moment for one truth. If we get through tomorrow we will be fine." There, you happy, if you dont like those lyrics then thats your opinion." fuck that dude, finch is awesome, anyone who rips on a band that good needs to get a life or die. what is there to say about this album? its incredible start to finish This I must say is the best fucking cd i have bought in a long time. You can put it and and listen. Fuck you people who judge what is really punk, I don't see you out there making albums for us to listen to. Shut the fuck up and cry to someone who cares. This cd rules, and drive-thru has good bands too ass-holes. oh shut up. this isnt fucking english class, no need for correction in spelling in a message board dick wad. anyways, finch is ehh. this album had no climax. it was like the 1st 2 songs sucked, the 3rd song was alright, than the 4th was good(actually there's you're climax right there), then it went all the way back down, and then track 10 was alright, and then everything went back down. sorry, don't know the titles. but, yeah the songs werent consistant of good songs, and track 9, i fucking felt like i was in those stupid car commercials. what was that shit? techno? that sucked donkey balls!! it's etc not ect, learn how to spell before you say shit about drive-thru, good cd, good review. especially that little bit about drive-thru, even though i knew all that. All drive thru is a little pre-packaging label for mtv. Training for the spotlight. a couple other things: i wouldl ike to say that if the reviewerwas hanging on a cliff by two fingers....I WOULD STEP ON HIS FINGERS AND SEND HIM PLUMMETING TO HIS DEATH. for several reasons. i love how you guys sit here and judge what is, and what isnt punk, its fucking hilarious and also quite pathetic at the same time...Good CD, my favortie of the year, although it might rock a little hard for these punk rock toddlers...but who cares, fuck em... This is pure pop-punk bullshit! WHERE DO YOU SEE POP PUNK IN THIS? I see Punk, maybe, very little.....but not pop punk. And the only reason I say that is because occasionally the drums speed up to that sold-out punk tempo(which I'm not saying is bad, it's necessary on occasion) and the guitars accelerate along with it. But most of the guitars and especially the vocals on this album....I don't think so. They totally break you down. You sing along, yes...but you have this pissed off look on your face, and if you were rockin out to this cd while you were driving and someone pulled up beside you they might shit their pants cuz they'd think you were quite frightening. Pop punk lifts your heart while this cd just rips at it. And anyone who has seen Finch live knows they aren't about the money. They do everything they can to pour every ounce of emotion into every song, no matter what the emotion for that song may be. And i use that word on purpose: EMOTION. I've seen two different webcasts of their shows and my friend saw them in Colorado...I get to see them in 4 days and I'm stoked. Because from a 2 inch window on my computer screen, Finch has my brows lowering and my heart pounding. The only reason this cd doesn't get a 10 is because sometimes I think the screaming ruins the songs. Some of them exemplify as well as need it, while others (Letters to You, Awake) would be perfect without them. But you'll get used to it, and you will live this album. Rock, your not punk! you are not even close to punk! theboywhocriedangel: Thanks. Anyway my music style has changed a lot since then and I've realized that there is better stuff out there to listen to then generic pop punk. i found your claim to be "exited" about this album to be quite hilarious; it was unintentionally comedic, i suppose. i also found funny the fact that you are now deeming the drive-thru label "trash" considering the fact that back circa-december of 2001, you cried a steaming river of pubescent rage over my own inflammatory remarks regarding drive-thru. (which is indeed trash.) odd... anyway, great job with the review, it sure gave me a good laugh! Hey mr. Sidelinedforlife you suck, your not punk!!! you are just a littel pop punk poser. You wouldn't know punk if it was sitting on your face. So you can just drive this record thru your ass! that is all i am done with your pop punk poser ass. So what do you have to say about that? BACK TO THE REVIEWER: "TO THE REVIEWER: Hey mr. Rockwell, drive-thru rules and you disgust me! welp, see you later, at least the bands on the lable are getting paid, unlike you, you fat bastard! that is all To the guy below... This album is pretty good. Nice production, nice melodies but not too TO THE REVIEWER: Im sorry but Blinks old stuff was definetely better. (To the guy below) I hear Finch on the radio here, but only on the nightly Ska/Punk playlist. Their sales are actually doing pretty good. Zia Records, an indie chain here in AZ, has them as like 3rd overal for sales in the past month at I think 4 of their six stores. I suppose its cause they kick ass! I need a job so I can buy it, and a few others. how were blink 182's old albums any better than their new stuff. buddah and cheshire cat have the weakest vocals and the same damn drum beat. that review was too long and boring For the two post below me: I think that you failed to notice that Finch isnt on the radio and NFG and Blink are. (As far as I know Finch is not on the radio) I think you failed to notice that Finch has a sound that is very radio friendly, much like NFG, Blink, or Midtown. Kung Fu does suck, they seem to put out the worst bands. I do agree with the reviewer on Rx Bandits because they have come along way to put out a very awesome record found in Process. Yeah Drive Thru sucks, but not as much as Kung Fu records Personally I think it is funny. TO EVERYONE: I understand why many poeple are accusing Drive-Thru of chasing money just because New Found Glory is gaining a following of 12-year-old girls. While I am not a fan of Newfound glory, but an avid fan of other bands on the label, such as Midotwn, Allister, and finch, did it ever occur to you that NFG released 2 records before MCA caught on and brought them up and release the S/T album? New Found Glory's sound never really changed. The only reason that they are selling lots is because Emo and pop-punk is seeing a revival, like ska in the mid 90's. Its a fad right now for all the teenie boppers. But what happens to fad? They fade away. I havn't seen anyone wear tons of Abercrombie and Fitch since I was in 8th grade (take note I am a high school sophomore now). It was a fad. I've heard a few songs from this, they sound amazing. Dude, I'm sorry but you're a moron. Labels do what they want to do, and Drive Thru is not signing these bands to get "rich" by any means. Grow up. The label "Drive-Thru" is a record label that cares about one thing in my opinion, and that is the money. Yea my friends, it is becoming a sad world in the music industry, because a lot of bands are "catering" to an MTV type atmosphere. They tend to loose their style, and attitude just to make the dollars. Blink is a perfect example. They put out a couple records early in their career that were actually good, and then all of the sudden they become pop. Why? Because more cash is involved if they play their music on the radio and MTV. In order to do this they have to quiet down and play soft for the radio so more people will like it such as thirteen year old girls, moms, ect. Anyway this is where "Drive-Thru" steps in. They have put out such bands as "New Found Glory," which obviously is a very hard working band. The problem is though is that they are a polished pop punk band made safe for little Jeffery to hear, and then they claim their punk. Another thing is that they end up getting printed on t-shirts that little girls will end up buying. In the process they will act as if they had their first orgasm(which they probably did). A lot of bands are turning into this, and this label happens to obviously look for that. BLAH BLAH BLAH... they put out bands like that because that is the kind of record label they are. They have always been a label that puts out so called "pop-punk" and does it well. So they are about money but isnt that the point of a record label, to make money? They are a hard working label and genuinely care abhout the bands, from what the bands on the label say about the owners. They are also not an independent label and pretty much have to do what RCA tell them to do because that is who is funding them and all their bands. Get over the "punker than thou" thoughts and learn that music is music whether you like it or not... stop talking out of your ass too. album is great, one of the berst from drive thru. Blah Blah Blah! what if they are pop-punk. what's wrong with pop. What about the beatles, they were pop. Not all bands play that kind of music for the money. some probably enjoy that kind of music. It's not a crime to not like the same music as you. For the "weak screams" comment... what is your basis on saying they are weak. I listen to a lot of Hardcore and Metalcore and they are very comparable to the screams in Finch. Not as loud cuz their mostly backup screams but nonetheless, they are not weak. PRops to the glassjaw singer for making an appearence on the cd. kickass.. loose = lose. that's the rookie mistake. I cant believe I left out Grey Matter as one of the best songs on the album. If you want to know what kind of a job Mark did listen to this song folks. Someone said in the other Finch review: "mark trombino did the impossible...he polished a turd." Very true, Mark did a very awesome job on this album. Good review and good band. I wanna see them live. TO THE PERSON THAT POSTED SECOND: "They tend to loose their style, and attitude." I was offended by the section on Drive-Thru. I really dont think that they are all for the money but whatever its all opinion. Otherwise the review makes me want to check these guys out further. They sound like a promising band. Very good review even though half of it was about Drive-Thru. The band is a very excellent band also. This cd is a must have for anyone. "They tend to loose their style, and attitude just to make the dollars." I just wanted to point out that the record is an hour long (but that's because of ender which is 13 minutes). Project mayhem was actually my favorite song. And the record rips. Ok, let's see. This album isn't terrible. But it is still pop to the core. Wow, they scream a little- but a scream means nothing when it's being yelled by a sissy and has no meaning behind it. This album isn't aggressive at all and is a pop punk album. But, with that said, it isn't a bad album. If you like pop punk in the vein of NFG and add in a few weak hearted screams then you will most likely like this album, it's just not my cup of tea, not enough balls, way too wimpy and whiny. This cd is amazing to say the least, greta review also, but could have left out the Drive-Thru lecture. The screams at the beginning of grey matter are amazing. |
