Thus the purpose of these affairs is negated. These covers splits are quite a good idea in my humble opinion (no, sod that, I take back humble, it's my smegging review) but only if both bands have something to bring to the table in terms of interpretations, which is not the case here. That (major) quibble aside, this CD has its moment, but said moment is held over to the closing stages of the CD. BA's cover of AM's "Jessica's Suicide" is an at once poignant, ultimately thrilling respite from the bad country "punk" (typified by BA's "You Deserve This", the inclusion of which shows how stuck for good songs to cover BA were) that fills the rest of this split. I stopped taking this review seriously when I read that they think Bad Astronaut and Armchair Martian sound exactly the same.... for reals?? sub par review, awesome cd this is hands down the worst review i've ever read on this site. this split is perfect though. 10/10 for the split, 1/10 for the reviewer. I have to aggree with everyone. Don't ever review an album again dude. You just plain 'ol suck dick. It's a good cd, but a very esoteric review. He's saying that one of the bands, i'm trying to figure out who, really sux, and it's difficult for the other band to cover their songs, bc that band really sux. Glad to be of help Seriously, probably the best split ever outside HWM/Alk3. And brinepacer, if the best you can do is rip off reviews form aversion.com, don't even bother. And some detail would be nice, even if you don't like something. Mailing this shit in at 150 words is bogus. Worst review ever. This cd is amazing...But I wanna hear the original BA songs that AM covered...they're pretty good, but Joey Capes voice is sooo much better. |
