| Dethklok / Mastodon / Convergelive in Hamburg2009 live show Review by: Ellsi See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on October 30th 2009
First off, let me start by saying that I had the flu all week; I really wasn’t up for a show. Saturday (the day of the show) was the first day out of seven that I had woken up without a fever. Had this not been Dethklok, the greatest cartoon band (and one of the greatest metal bands of all time), I would definitely not have gone. But in the name of metal I dared venture from my sickbed...and boy, was I glad I did.

seeing this tomorrow, will comment on it. Hopefully there will be some decent crowd movement for Converge. I find it kinda weird that Deathlok are headlining this... saw the Eagles Ballroom show in Wisconsin. It's lame that they didn't play Blood and Thunder. There are certain songs a band has to play, even if they are sick of hearing it. A Mastodon set pretty much entirely dedicated to Crack The Skye? Bizarre choice, and not one I'd be thrilled to see either. They are playing Northern Virginia (DC) tonight. But tickets are so damn expensive (not to mention sold out) that it isnt worth it. I love all 3 bands on the tour and just think Deathklok is funny. I knew people would not like Converge... but hardcore is not made for stadiums. Metal works well in huge venues but not hardcore. Were any of these bands chasing Hamburg? lol 1. High on Fire rules. I wouldn't really call them stoner/sludge metal though since they tend to be faster than that type. Think maybe Lemmy singing on a slower Slayer song. The comment below me is completely and utterly false. [Mastodon] played the Crack the Skye album in its entirety followed by two songs from Blood Mountain and one from Leviathan and Remission each" This tour would have been much cooler if they replaced Mastodon with Isis, and Dethlok with The Melvins Nice review, Dethklok killed it at the NY stop last night. Wow, it's just like a roller-coaster.. The title is the excitingride up and then.. I was at this last night at the NY stop. Converge ruled even though most of the crowd wasn't into it. |
