Anyone familiar with the wide limbs of the Cap’n Jazz family tree will know the name of Victor Villarreal. Despite never being a frontman, his guitar skills, further showcased in the instrumental act Ghosts & Vodka and the Cap’n Jazz reunion that was Owls, made him a household name in certain circles. Those of you who don’t know the name: It's time to get hip.

I don't even give a shit about his voice, because this cd is just dripping with sincerity and meaning. It's damn amazing. I would LOVE this if he was a better singer. Oh, and when I was talking to Mike one time, he said that that whole sound is probably more attributable and influenced by Victor than some sort of collaborative or concerted effort between all of them. Good to see this reviewed. I like when Punknews expands beyond its 'traditional' reach (to many people's dismay). | Features
