Brand New / Glassjaw / Crime in Stereolive in Boston (2009)Universal Music Group Reviewer Rating: Contributed by: leafsacc (others by this writer | submit your own) Published on November 27th 2009
Shortly before the release of their fourth record, Daisy, in September, Brand New announced what was by far the most ambitious touring plans of their career. Not only would they play the biggest clubs in cities across the country, they would play multiple nights in a number of these cities, and then finish the trek with a hometown stop at the massive Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. At first, I doubted the band's ability to pull this off, and was expecting a whole lot of half-empty venues.

Saw this tour in Montreal. Never have cared for Glassjaw, that night only transformed my disinterest into fierce dislike when their set was way longer than necessary. Crime in Stereo, conversely, played a 20 minute set (apparently their drummer was not with them and they were using another guy to fill in) which was awesome but painfully, painfully brief. And Brand New were... Brand New. Great set, long, good song selection and album variety, and the projector visuals were pretty cool. Score is for the overall experience. I just saw this tour with Thrice at Nassau Coliseum on Saturday. Glassjaw fucking KILLED it Glassjaw haven't toured in 3 years? I saw them in 2007 and twice in 2008. That's one year. My date got pushed back almost 4 months, this makes me even more excited for January 30th. I don't give a fuck about Your Favorite Weapon songs, though. it's not too strange to see Crime in Stereo playing with glassjaw at least, when i saw them on their winter 2006 tour, crime in stereo opened that as well. disappointing that there is no crowd reaction to the daisy stuff, bought a bride might be my favorite brand new song. Brand New do whatever the fuck they want both live and on record, and I love them for it. When I've seen them, the majority of the crowd goes mental for their biggest singles, then calms down for my favourite songs off the newer records. It works out pretty well. Wow. Crime In Stereo actually opened this show? I will never understand why people are so enamored with their old material, especially "Your Favorite Weapon" which is such a weak album compared to their latter catalog of music. | Features
