Buy the vinyl version on No Idea to hear "The Reflex" and I heard so many bad things about this album that I didnt bother buying it. I don't know a tremendous amount about the band but I do know a few things. I know bad ska is BAD.. but if you can actually find a good ska band they are GOOD. and Less Than Jake is good... Hello rockview is a great cd. Ska doesnt deserve all the shit you guys have been giving it. Yea so there arent many good ska bands but have you ever thought of how hard it is to use horns with a punk song and still make it so you uptight, "i hate everything that isnt minor threat or soemthing like it" punks will like it. I hate you all.. open your mind and not your wallets for more spikes and studs and patches. Fuckers I really enjoy listening to this album because you can see the progress the band has made. It is fun to hear the early recordings from when they were just starting out. Sure it is not the best, most polished thing in the world, but it is not supposed to be. It should give young bands starting out hope that you can too make a living selling records and touring even if your first stuff isn't spectacular. i got the "old" version in a promo for this one in the contest and i like my old one for the the live tracks i like this except yeah (i dont like hamburger hop, mississippi mud, kroq song) yeah im wondering about the goodburger song too i like that one a lot, id get this on the vinyl tho, just to look at I wasn't knocking "shite." I want to use it. Maybe girls will make out with me then. I ain't got no herpes or nothing. There was no reason to put this album out except to earn Fueled by Ramen a little money. They're just saving their ass. I agree, it's not the best LTJ, but any LTJ is better than Voodoo Glow Skulls. :P I love LTJ, but I hate this album. Worst $10 I ever spent. If you really....really care, the Dopeman Remix is a new remix that wasn't the one from the music video or the remix single CD....I know, I have that single CD, and it sounds a helluva lot better than whatever is on Goodbye Blue and White.... Are you kidding me the slayer songs are the best!!! slayer for life!! The Pete from Slapstick isn't in LTJ anymore. He left a little while ago. Whendovescry: What's wrong with the word shite??! I can't believe that Americans can say 'Bad ass dude' without laughing. Where I come from an ass is a donkey/horse hybrid.Having thought about it, this album is worth downloading I suppose, but I wouldn't pay over about £4 ($6.50? i dunno) Ooyeah ska is totally eighth grade. lets all be adults and listen to radiohead and the anniversary. then lets get jobs at starbucks and put on our favorite designer "indie" clothes. psssh... No, I haven't posted here before, just this and the Vermont review. They were both originally printed in an independent newspaper in Central Florida. I mostly review indie stuff...Neutral Milk Hotel, Mountain Goats, Dressy Bessy, Imperial Teen, etc. But occasionally I'll review a punk album...If you want my other reviews so you can tear them apart, I'll be more than happy to oblige. :) less than jake is just horrible 3rd wave skapunk. i can not stand the lead vocals, they are annoying. and the horns are quite weak. the only reason why i give this a two is because one of the horn players from slapstick is in this band. This is not a casual fan's album, it's really just for the die hards, and counting myself as one of them, I like this CD a lot. Yeah, I already had all the songs, but if nothing else it's good to have all the songs I'd burned off of the internet over the years collected onto one disc. I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as this reviewer claims, but he did argue his point well so I wouldn't argue with him. One question though: Where the hell is "We're All Dudes" from the Good Burger soundtrack?! Granted, the lyrics to that song are some ass, but the music is good, and I have to guess the band thinks the same as I've heard them use the horn break down to that song live numerous times. I've always been perplexed by this though, because NO ONE, including the band, ever mentions the song, and this would have been a good place to stick it as it's not like some of the other material isn't equally embarassing.....krowdsurf To that guy that says punknews.org should "stop reviewing shite," I totally disagree. I'm already cynical towards reviewers (most people are) and it's even more questionable if every record reviewed gets a good rating. ps... Man, that's crazy! English people really say "shite" as an adjective! That kills me! Hey, does anyone else think "Losing Streak" should have gone on the album? That tune is awesome...in any case, I have the original mail-order only version of Goodbye Blue and White and I like it a lot. Sure, the recording quality isn't great but there are some really cool songs on here. It isn't meant to be taken as a full length, just a way to get a bunch of limited release stuff on one cd. More power to LTJ! I just think it's funny that you HATE punk covers... Ditto: 10.99 in my local HMV for years now! This is England, of course. Y'all should've asked, i would have sent you a copy straight away! Not that it's worth the postage. Also, I find it hard to believe that (seeing as the rest of the band has improved 100%) Vinnie is still as shite on the drums as he was back when this was recorded. you used to be able to get this in my local HMV for £10. i dont know what the 'limited edition' stuff is all about i like this album, it's a must have for every less than jake fan and has a lot of cool songs (the 2 losingstreak-b-sides, i think i love you, your love, the covers), ok, the death metal-songs aren't that essential...and i think you made a mistake, the older versions of scott farcas..., rocknroll pizzeria, etc. ARE DEFINITELY different than the newer ones... I haven't heard this album and I don't even really like LTJ, but just so you know; "Evil has no boundaries" and "Antichrist" are Slayer songs back from '83. Now you know. the greaced cd was wonderful you human paraquat Tell me, "anonymous"...where did I not do my research? I've been a Less than Jake nut for years, but tell me were I went wrong in this article. Don't say the facts are off without explaining yourself. I don't say an album is bad without explaining why. I often wonder if the one comment under my strung out review that just says "idiot" was written by the same guy below me. That review was well written but at the same time it was wrong on so many levels. How about you do some research next time? |
