The one-sheet for The Invincible Gate Mind of the Infernal Fire Hell, Or Did You Mean Hawaii Daisuki? calls Hayaino Daisuki "arguably the most influential power-thrash outfit (in Japan)." Not being terribly well-versed in that nation's brand of such, I'd be liable to say, "Sure, why not?" But the band released their first EP in 2008, so I'm gonna guess there's at least a hint of sarcasm there.

Based on the frenzied pull of this particular followup EP, however, I'm gonna say they hold the potential to actually one day attain that title properly. I guess "power-thrash" might be one area to accurately place what Hayaino do, but there's a subtle influence of screamy, grindy hardcore that infiltrates this EP and its long-winded title, making it all the more intense and abrasive.

Take something like opener "Ghosts of Purgatory"--flailing guitars surround Jon Chang's sharp, jagged cackle, but the band imbue it with a rhythm that keeps your attention focused and intact. The band tear off a few mind-numbing solos for "Kirei" before returning to the bit-shorter length of closer "Blood," possibly the EP's most frothing, caustic cut.

A seriously intense sophomore effort. Tight production, rapid-fire bite and a virulent drive.
