Let's be straight up here: If you can take the characters of an old video game from the late '80s and turn it into something good, let alone an INDIE ROCK OPERA, you've scored a huge accomplishment. Make no mistake though--this is a band by geeks, for geeks. For anyone else, it would probably just come off as corny. One of the songs is titled "How the World Fell Under Darkness." Take that as you will.

I keep glancing at this and thinking it says "The Potatomen." Love The Protomen though I find myself listening to their first album more than Act II. Still a great album though. I am a huge "retro" video game nerd and I still think this band is embarrassing and cheesy. Woah woah, Protoman didn't become Zero. Zero was built as a new kind of robot by Dr. Wily, sort of as his equivalent to Megaman X. Kid, your post was so geeky that it made my review look like the cool kid. protoman was always a punk in mega man 3 (my favorite). also, protoman became zero in the mega man x series... |

Reviewer failed to mention that this album sounds a fuck of a lot like Murder By Death. Still, totally enjoyable and worth listening to.
