I'm 48 and have played bass since 1968. I was in the 1st wave of punk in 1977 and was part of the DC hardcore scene from 1980 through 1984 when I moved to CA. I was the bass player in a band called Iron Cross from DC in 82 and 83 (I left the band due to a stupid argument over a gig with my best friend Sab and have always felt bad about it...we're good though and he's still the best friend I've ever had ). I've played in a lot of bands, but none ever touched the friends I had and still have from Iron Cross and DC in general. I'm now married with 3 kids and play and listen to music every day. I hope that's a message to everyone out there...yes, you can grow older, but the part of you that drew you to this scene doesn't ever have to die.
