The new Radio Birdman record, their first album of new material since the Australian outfit broke up over 25 years ago, will be titled Zeno Beach and released in the U.S. on August 22nd via Yep Rock Records. The thirteen track record was written in late 2005 and recorded in December at Big Jesus Burger Studios in Surry Hills (an inner city suburb of Sydney). Zeno Beach was produced by Radio Birdman guitarist (and Detroit-expatriate) Deniz Tek with local engineer Greg Wales. The label comments in their press release:

Zeno Beach is a long-overdue new chapter in the Radio Birdman story. The Stooges/MC5 influences are still apparent, but the writing and performances have matured and broadened. What results is vital new music, rather than some mere proto-punk museum piece, that is entirely worthy of a place alongside their early gems. Worldwide, people are excited to hear that Radio Birdman are back and ready to unleash Zeno Beach. The fact that Yep Roc Records gets to be the label in the U.S. to continue this story and introduce even more future fans to this band is not only an honor, but a privilege.

To promote the new release Radio Birdman will embark on their first ever U.S. tour. The jaunt kicks off on August 30th in Los Angeles and will run until September with appearances scheduled in San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Washington DC, Boston and New York.

Radio Birdman's original run lasted from 1974 to 1978, releasing the records Radios Appear and Living Eyes (with the latter not being released outside Australia). Their full line up of reunited for the Big Day Out festivals in `96 and `97, resulting in the live record Ritualism. In 2001 their profile in the US rose with the Sub Pop released compilation The Essential Radio Birdman: 1974-1978.
