Thrash metal pioneers Slayer will be releasing the first single from their upcoming record next Tuesday, June 6th, 2006 and a stream will be made available for the song at 6:06am PST. The track, titled "Cult" which will appear on the forthcoming album as well as the recently announced Hot Topic-exclusive EP.

The two-decade running metal act - who has influenced countless metal, hardcore and other bands - have begun mixing their upcoming full length. The as yet untitled new album is due out this fall, is the first new studio album since 1990's "Seasons In The Abyss" that features the entire original Slayer lineup (drummer Lombardo left the band in 1992 and rejoined in 2003).

The band will also be embarking on their Unholy Alliance tour starting in two weeks.

In related news, a Wyoming-based Slayer fan recently launched a campaign for June 6th, 2006 to be the National Day of Slayer. The site urges fans to "Listen to Slayer at full blast" and "DO NOT use headphones."
