Boy Sets Fire's bassist of the past 3 and a half years, Rob Avery, has left the Delaware quintet. In a statement on the band's webpage, it was said that "[T]here are a number of reasons why he left the band, but what it all boils down to is he has become unfulfilled with touring."

The band will not be mourning his departure for long, though - former My Hero Died Today bassist [and BSF guitar tech] Robert Ehrenbrand has been pressed into service. This will be the band's third bassist in their existence; original member Darrell Hyde left the band in 1999. Click READ MORE to see the band's full statement.

To our friends, fans, lovers and haters,

Rob Avery our bass player, has decided to leave Boy Sets Fire.
There are a number of reasons why he left the band, but what it all boils down to is he has become unfulfilled with touring.
While we don't know his exact plans, he had mentioned wanting to settle down, start a family, and become a mechanic.

On a more positive note, we are honored to now introduce our new bass player, Robert Ehrenbrand. We met Robert in 1988 on our first European tour when we played with his former band, My Hero Died Today. Robert who resides in Berlin, Germany has become a close and dear friend of ours cemented in 6 months of recent touring with us as a guitar tech. In the hard working tradition of BOYSETSFIRE, we have immediately welcomed Robert as a full-time member and are successfully achieving our transition into all current and future obligations.

We are eagerly anticipating this new chapter in the life of BOYSETSFIRE. Feel free to introduce yourself and welcome Robert into BOYSETSFIRE. Be sure to openly discuss David Hasselhoff, bratwurst, Dallas Mavericks, and lederhosen.

xoxo,
Matt Krupanski

and
Robert Ehrenbrand
