Little Brother (2015)

Independent

These days there seems to an abundance of pop punk for fans anywhere in the world and Eavesdrop does much to prove that fact.

Playing all over Toronto and Hamilton over the past couple of years these 5 guys are sure putting in their hours to becoming a buzzing band similar to the likes of Boys Night Out and Saint Alvia - and why not? Their latest E.P Little Brothers shows how far an independent band such as themselves can go in such a short time.

Starting off the E.P with "Missing The Point" they sure did not miss the point with their songwriting as the upbeat, positive lyrics 'When you open your heart and see what's inside, nothing's against you, you're not alone anymore' definitely speak to all sorts of people at various points in their lives, it's kind of an anthem to those feeling bummed up at the moment and need to cheer up.

"Cellophane" is a speedy track that almost never slows down in it's entirety. Guitars are in perfect unison with each other and seem to feed off of each other this way, anywhere from the fast and rhythmic chorus to the epic bridge near the end of the song that features some more emphatic vocals that lead all the way to the near unstoppable ending. It's almost like every part tries to outdo the previous one in terms of climax. This is a 3 minute epic that'll make you want to put on non-stop repeat.

"Talk Too Much" starts with a cool riff breakdown that any true pop punk fan would enjoy which then leads to a cheery verse thanks to some of the innovative riffs and interesting beats provided by the guitarist and drummer respectively. I'm actually wondering who writes the songs? Maybe the whole band or maybe just one or two members but either way the songs flow smoothly from every part and this track is one of the best off the E.P thanks to this very reason.

Taking various tried and true methods of previous pop punk bands they form a sound that rivals that of Seaway and Like Pacific; I haven't seen these guys live just yet but I'm sure their shows are quite ecstatic with every song being sung by the crowd, they're definitely one band I'll need to check out in the flesh ASAP.

Cool band, can't wait to see what they have in store for the future. More Music? Cross Country Tour? Label Signing? We'll See.
