Victory Records has announced the signing of Winnipeg, Manitoba's Comeback Kid. The band is currently at the Blasting Room in Ft. Collins, CO recording their second full length with Bill Stevenson (Descendents/All/Black Flag/Only Crime). The band's Victory debut is slated for a January 25th `05 release.
As previously reported, the band is set to hit the road this fall in Europe with Champion. Extensive North American touring is expected in support the release of their new record. Victory Records (116 comments)

Oh god no... I was hoping that their being produced by Bill Stevenson would be a sign that they'd be signing to Fat...that'd be awesome... Oh well, hopefully they won't go to shit even though they're signing to Victory... 2+ Replies

yea...i wouldnt have expected this, but then again its no suprise. victory has been crap for a really long time...i still like comeback kid (one of the few hardcore acts today that i do like), i wish them the best. but yeah...wacky.

How long till they split, and have an ex member band on the label? 1+ Reply

I'm very disappointed. That's about all I can say. I will still support this band and hope to see them live, but.. shitty.

who the fuck cares what label they signed to. granted, victory is god awful, but comeback kid's new album will brutalize no matter what label they are on. these kids give me hope for the future.

so much for being the "saviors of hardcore" as some people have put it 5+ Replies

It's hard to believe that there was once a time when it wouldn't be surprising for Victory to sign a band like this... remember when Victory was all about the straight edge hardcore? Strife, Snapcase, Earth Crisis, Deadguy, etc. etc. I had militant straight edge fans who swore by Victory just because of their "strict" rules... of course, then Grade and Thursday came along and things haven't been the same since. (No judgement there, just an observation) 4+ Replies

These guys fucking suck. I hate them so much and am sick and tired of hearing about them here in Winnipeg. If you want good winnipeg hardcore check out under pressure. These guys own them so badly. 2+ Replies

victory is no good but im really looking forward to see this with champion.

being on victory doesn't mean they'll put out a shitty record, it just means it's not gonna get pushed at all. 2+ Replies

Suprised. Looks like Vicotry is trying to go hardcore again, BYD and now Comeback Kid. Sounds good to me. The new BYD is mosh-tastic. Lets hope Comeback Kid is also very good. 2+ Replies

wtf...Comeback Kid was better off on a good record label like FACEDOWN....FUCK VICTORY
FortyMinutesWest (October 21, 2004)
Who gives a fuck? Does it really matter what label they're on? It's not like this band has any pop sensibilities that can be expanded upon, so I'm not sure why everyone is so concerned. Oh, and they still can't touch Bane. 9+ Replies

maybe sony (or whatever major rick sold to) wants them to be a hc label again

Known about this for weeks... don't like it at all. Victory will probably promote them as well as they do bands like minus, hoods, a18, voodoo glow skulls... aka... not at all. this sucks. I love Comeback Kid, but i was really hoping for pretty much any other label. 1+ Reply

Honestly, as long as Bill Stevenson is doing this record, it could be on Drive-Thru and I'd still buy it. Man, wouldn't it be weird if Stevenson produced the next Finch album? 2+ Replies

you pussies bitch and whinge about anything. its a record label. as long as the album gets made then whats the problem?? deal with it. if you are really upset, then start your own record label and then you can release whatever bands you want. but then, of course, you'll have brats criticising you because of the bands you are signing. 1+ Reply

seriously people, who gives a shit what label they're on? victory is a massive label, and comeback kid is getting massive, so it makes sense. they don't give a shit who pays you to cook burgers or clean up movie theatres, so why should you care who pays for them to make records? | Features

Hypocrites. I guess they felt the need to validate themselves with a label that acts like a major and has one of the worst rosters ever. Oh well. -BSD
