Head Wound City (the Locust, Blood Brothers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) EP out soon

Three One G Records will be releasing a 12"/CDep from Head Wound City, a new project which reportedly contains current members of the Locust, the Blood Brothers, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. No word on an official release date or tracklisting, but we'll keep you updated.

what's not to understand talented guys dressed up in awsome customs.. because they would perfer the consumer to focuse more on the music rather than their looks.. which project great sound. Very few bands do that.....

What's not to get, dudes in costumes playing grindcore with songs that can't be distinguished from each other and that are no more than 1 minute long. Sounds pretty logical. Honestly, they suck ass. -Dante

They begin to make more sense when you listen to their albums from beginning to end. But yeah, much like Pig Destroyer, I can only listen to them when I'm a very particular mood. I still like them though. -Chinatown

I wonder if it’s the same member of The Locust that’s in Cattle Decapitation, because that could make him 0 for 3 in the good band category. Honestly, I would love to see some kid at a Locust show, “Yeah this is my favorite song…Oh wait…maybe this is it…(8 minutes later)…Maybe it’s this one…(2 minutes later)…How many fucking songs do they have?!” -Dante

No, I'm on them for writing short, non-distinguishable, non-melodic, songs that sound like the aural equivalent to a bunch of people smashing their instruments while some little girl screams over it. Sorry, but they are a gimmick band, and a poor one at that. I do believe they have some talent but they put that as a second priority to writing these gimmicky songs and wearing costumes because they know that will probably get them more recognition, and you’re proof that it has. -Dante

Wow. Way to fucking presume on that one... Now people who like a band you don't are all fakes who love "the gimmick"? I've never seen the Locust, and their costumes I gues are a gimmick, but they aren't what I'm thinking of when I'm rocking to "Backbones of Jackasses". Their music is actually very well structured and I like its abbrasiveness, for the same reason I like similar bands... I'm sorry, but besides the kooky keyboards, the Locust aren't doing enough new to actually be considered gimmicky. It's just great thrash/grind to me. -BSD

Well that explains it. You like grind. If you had just said that to begin with I could have forgone trying to reason with you and just accepted you like them because you like musical taste. And before we go any further, yes I've listened to them, I've reviewed their albums for a radio station and so I had to listen from track one to track 30 and in the end I couldn't care enough about this band to even burn the CD. After I reviewed 4 other people re-reviewed it because we all thought that it must be us because this band is clearly popular so they have to be somewhat good. After it made the entire gauntlet of reviewers we couldn't find half a dozen songs on their whole collection that were worth listening to more than once. -Dante P.S. Did you read what gimmick says? It didn't say "makes people like you" it's a device used to gain attention, their appearance, and the rest of their persona, does that. It's also a novel device or stunt, I'd say they meet that criteria too. I'm not saying you can't like them because of their...ahem... music, but people also like, Slipknot, Insane Clown Posse, and Mudvayne because of their music, but they all have a gimmick too. -Dante

I liked the band before I knew they wore masks... I am sure they were them for a purpose other than a gimmick. Fun fact: did you know the locust refused to play clear channel events for their tour? Now thats fighting back.

I feel like the reason that the locust catch so much shit from people like just because unlike many bands in their genre they get exposure and have readily avaible records at most any chain store. It's cool if you don't like them but they are no more a gimmik band than Discordance Axis or Melt Banana. As for the Cattle Decapitation connection, the bands no longer share members anymore.

who from each band is gonna be in this thing? what is it gonna be like? and oh by the way, i went to see the blood brothers this past thursday... awesome. The chinese stars sucked it up, but the Mean Reds were friggin amazing!!! Theyre sorta like Gridcorish, hardcorish, NES music. really great... they also wore matching overalls.
