Break-ups: Ateriavia (2003-2005)

Chicago, IL's Ateriavia has broken up. The band, who released Regarding the Midwest, Sleeping this year, saw the departure of of vocalist Matt Forkenbrock as well as guitarist Nicole Beres but the remaining members do plan to continue on in a new project. The band posted this in their myspace.com blog:

We (Eric, Chris and Mike) have no hard feelings toward their departure and wish them the best in whatever they do next [and ] also decided it would be wrong and in poor taste to continue on as this band and are going to start fresh with a new project. We haven't decided yet on a full lineup but are already in the process of writing in order to record 3 to 4 songs sometime in early June.

The current lineup band has also lined up a final show on April 16th at Earthworm Empire in Kankakee, IL.

Update: We spoke with Erik at Lujo who added that the remaining members of the band are currently auditioning vocalists and that they are very much committed to continuing on together.

maybe you didnt know they existed, but they had a lot of fans. so next time you wanna bad talk someones band. think twice about what you say and make sure its logical. for the "who cares" the answer to that would be...their fans. if you dont care, then dont read it. how disrespectful. to say shit about a band that puts work and effort into what they do and to have it come down to their last show and you bad talk it....thats just plain ignorant. as for ateriavia, nice work guys/girl. from what ive seen, there was never a bad show. good luck in the future.

i've said it once, i'll say it another time: who the fuck cares about bands like this, and the evaluation, and for crying out loud half of Lujo's roster? none of these bands are doing anything special, just rehashing whats already been done. Listen to the records people, and then go back through anything out of DC and you will see its been done before and BETTER! i haven't seen a band get so much hype for no good reason in a while. by the way, all of the cheerleading bullshit that so many of these so called "cool" bands are doing right now needs to fucking die.

To the guy who said that Lujo roster is full of bands that are rehashing the DC sound…I find that kind of funny. Are you referring to the Out_Circuit or Aquarium or Frantic Mantis or The Cassettes or Brahm or Night Is Invisible or the Gena Rowlands Band or Obelisk? I’d agree that those bands have a DC sound. But I think its probably because all of these bands are DC bands and vital members of the DC music Community. Do you live in DC??? I do and I think I’m pretty aware of and involved in the DC scene and nobody here seems to think that these bands are derivative. And if those bands aren’t the ones that you are referring to are you referring to our weird electronica bands like Such Broken Glass, and Planar? Or maybe you are you referring to our bands that are a big part of the Seattle scene like Ambitious Career Woman, Suffering and the Hideous Thie
