Fourth round of Hellfest bands includes Ensign, Against Me!, PMFS, Strike Anywhere

Hellfest has announced the fourth round of additions to the three-day lineup. Of note is a reunion set from hardcore act Ensign as well as performances from Boy Sets Fire, Against Me!, Strike Anywhere, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Glass And Ashes, the Unseen and many others. The bulk of the previously announced list can be found here.

Hellfest will be taking place August 19-21 at the Trenton Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ.

He just has his facts mixed up. Ensign is currently working on a new album, and definitely are not calling it quits anytime soon. They havent played too many shows because Nate has been busy with The Fire Still Burns.

Good god, this is wonderful. And I don't think Ensign ever broke up. They've been recording new material and shit for a while. Also they've been doing shows in New Jersey recently if I'm not mistaken.

That is a lot of amazing additions. Glass And Ashes, I Am Idaho, AM!, but I still can't go, because Hellfest starts the same 3 days as college starts up again for me. Weak.

no shit...I'm actually looking up air faire pricing right now...and trying to figure out how I can convince my boss that I need to be in New F'n Jersey for about 5 days so that I can do this on the companies dime...something tells me that it's not going to float, though. *fingers crossed*

damn. there are going to be 187 total bands. does that mean that each day will have a completely different lineup or are some bands "headlining" all three days? this hellfest is just ridiculous. why even bother wading through all the crap to see a few bands you like? i wouldnt be able to deal with it - jones the bones - stevejones8770@yahoo.com

Every year prior to this they'd have bands play 20-25 minute sets on the C stage, 35-40 minute sets on the A and B stages, and each night would have a headliner who played for an hour. But with 187 bands, they'll need more than 3 stages, I don't even know how they'll do this.

Well I honestly don't know about this year. Last time I went was '03, and the sets were over by 10. But with 187 bands, things could very well run long, I don't know for sure.

I used google earth to check it out, so even if it is a bad stop it's only a 1/2 mile walk. You also gotta take a transfer downtown? That's why I can't stay later than like 10 PM.

it's too bad hellfest is turning into one giant clusterfuck. converge will headline the third night, i guess that's about the only sure thing. i'm not sure how i feel about all these pseudo 'punk' bands joining the lineup. it's like they're trying to turn it into a warped tour type event, which is lame. granted a lot of the bands on the line up are weak, there are some sick fucking hardcore bands in the end. keep the punk rock bullshit to the warped tour fans... and against me! sucks... terribly these days.

you rip on the punk bands but you make no mention of public enemy? I thought that would be the first group you would flame for not being hardcore enough. I've also seen enough Converge to know that kids will be windmilling around like morons, so you can save that too.

i'm speaking specifically about bands such as against me! who play shows with bands like green day and jimmy eat world. public enemy is badass. there is plenty of music that rips outside of hardcore obviously, it's only a tiny percent of what i listen to, but this is fucking hellfest. it has always been a metal/hardcore/grind/whatever you wanna call it fest. this new edition of pop punk influenced bands is bullshit. that's just my opinion. like i said, save it for the warped tour. i most likely would never even attend another hellfest, but if i did i wouldn't want to see a bunch of watered down 'punk' in between all the bullshit hardcore bands (i.e. hatebreed) just to see a decent metal band.
