Rivalry Records has announced plans to release a split 7" / CDEP featuring Champion and Betrayed. The bands plan on entering the studio this November to record at least two new songs each, with the possibility of covers being floated as well. A tentative release is set for January 2006.
The split will follow up releases from both bands. Betrayed recently released the Addiction EP soon after signing to Bridge 9. Champion saw their first two EPs Come Out Swinging and Count Our Numbers reissued this year as the Time Slips Away compilation, with their debut LP Promises Kept hitting stores in 2004. yeah, some mexican dude named "cervantes" fronts champion. Aram Aslanian is the guitar player for champion. And it's fucking wonderful to see this split coming out on rivalry. That label is run by one of the hardest working guys in hardcore. May more good things come.

Ok, well I'll just casually boast that I have heard this already (as well as the Go it alone/ blue monday split - which is better). As far as i'm concerned the new Champion stuff went down well when I saw em back in december but listening to the ep they sound forced, boring and uninspired. I reckon they probably said, yep, we've got nothing new to bring to the table, time to pull the plug. As for Betrayed (whom i saw touring with champion) they are so much of a better band! A good knack for a catchy song and Aram has an inspiring frontman presence, he is very very approachable and down to earth as well. The betrayed songs aren't as good as their ep but I can say that I can't wait for their full length coming out in a couple of months. Ok, thats enough from me. | Features

First, I thought Champions singer had a different name?
