Remember what day it is? The Kid Dynamite reunion show is happening now at CBGB in New York. If you want to check out them and openers Take My Chances, Voice In The Wire and Grey Area make sure you fire up that stream soon. You just might see a few `Org regulars slamming about in the pit.

Until 4 years ago, I thought the chorus of "Perhaps they'll die" was actually "I'm turned on." I don't know how two sentences that don't rhyme could sound so similiar, but they do to me. That scene with "Judy is a Punk" in Royal Tennenbaums is great.

I still go on record saying that Paint it Black is better than Kid Dynamite. Regardless I'm interested to see what a Kid Dynamite show is like. i was actually at this, and i honestly have to say that i think greyarea stole the show. kd was good, but you could tell they haven't played together in a long time. for whoever said it was the best show ever, you obviously weren't at lifetime last night. i told ari then that it was the best show i've ever been to, and that still holds. i thought the crowd was a lot crazier last night, especially right at the end of ostrichsized. lifetime also was a lot tighter. tonight i thought greyarea put on a better show. they didn't sound like they were coming back from a long layoff, and with dan up front in the crowd and ernie getting really into it, i thought it was a lot more fun. i don't mean to take away from kid dynamite though, because they did play an awesome set. i guess i just felt a little let down because of how awesome last night was. oh, and i think they sh

I just got back from this show (I took a shower and had a drink, as well). It was pretty fantastic and really lived up to the hype. Given that I have never seen Strike Anywhere or None More Black before, and just how awesome of I show Kid Dynamite played tonight, I am thinking that we might want to fuck the original lineup of the Asskicking Stage and the initial rule I made about only having current active bands on the list. So, I'm considering talking to Kevin Lyman about having next year's stage have Kid Dynamite join stage certainties Bigwig, Propagandi, and Hilary Duff. Anyone else excited by the new song and by how much fun the band seemed to have together and how much love the crowd showed? Maybe they'll give it another whirl.... Sigh.

-Take My Chances was really fucking good. They're basically Long Island's next Backup Plan. -The guy filling in for VITW's singer had an identical voice. There's no way you could tell the difference. -I'd never heard them before, so Gray Area was pretty impressive. Dr. Dan was in the crowd near the front for the first few songs. It was sorta weird looking to my right and having Dan Yemin just...standing there. -There was little-to-no sloppiness in KD's set. They were about 98% tight and that was well enough for me. And pretty much everyone else in the room. I think they could've thrown in a few more songs, but I probably would've died if that happened.

no sloppiness, just rustiness. i agree that it was awesome though. i still think grey area stole the show, but that may have a lot to do with my vantage point. i was hanging off the wooden structure off to the right side, so i was basically above everyone and i could see everything just going absolutely insane. it even looked like one of the bouncers was having a good time. i was in the crowd for kd, so i didn't have the same kind of perspective. the only songs that i saw everyone around me really get into were sos, birthday, and give em the ripped one. i was towards the back, which saddened me somewhat.

how did everyone determine that dan broke his strings? right after they finished the song that he did the stage dive, he said, "it must be nice to play lame indie rock and not have unruly kids running across the stage and accidentally disconnecting your guitar" or something close to that. then jay said that the "unruly kid" may in fact have been him. anyway, i didn't think they played very sloppy, but jay was off. everyone helped him along, though, so it's cool.

i don't think i've ever been so disappointed with myself. i could have gone, but i just couldn't get out of work. in retrospect, and reading everyones comments here, it probably would have been worth getting fired over. they fucking played 'Birthday'!! and apparently Grey Area kicked as much ass i knew they could. i think i wanna cry.

i went to the show, and i'm disappointed with myself for not doing more awesome stuff during the show. highlights for me: -uncle ernie's storytime and bad jokes -grey area kicking ass with dan yemin up front going crazy -whoa! dave, can you hear me? -dan stage diving during his own set -cheap shot youth anthem, birthday, heart a tact, sos, and bookworm -spider still not changing his clothes -dan offering money for the head of the hellfest guy -no assholes beating up random people for no reason

take my chances are a 3rd rate KD, grey area would have been good, but the lyrics on the first record are so gay, the 2nd records lyrics are much better but i dont liek the music as much. kid dynamite, you'd think they reinvented the wheel, they were ok at their peak. but hey reunions are great because there arent any bands around today worth checking out.
