Nick Hawkins, former guitarist of Big Audio Dynamite passed away last week from a heart attack. Hawkins gained international attention when he joined the legendary Mick Jones in the band in 1990 and participated in their biggest single and album,"Rush" from the album, The Globe which was released in 1991.
Hawkins left the band in 1997 and had been working on his first solo album in Las Vegas. Nick had hoped to release the record, titled Dusk Till Dawn next year. Our deepest condolences go out to Nick's family and friends. News (51 comments)

Horrible news...anyone know if he was far enough along in the recording for the album to ever be released? 1+ Reply

this is a bummer, but let's not pretend we care about his solo work. or even pretend that those last few BAD albums were anything but crap. RIP one way or the other nick. i still *love* half of "the globe."

Nick, RIP, genuinely hope that you achieved your full 'creative' ability. I remember you from when you were just nine! The greatest mates with my brother and your brother. Rascals together. Private club, that only you lot understood. You all felt I was far too square to comprehend, but I send my regards to your family, who will be a lot less without you. Take it easy wherever you are and sprinkle some magic down here if you can. And for those of you reading this, remember it is easy to critiscise when the person aint there to answer! Hope you had the best life

Lets put the record straight. I have no idea if Nick did drugs in the early days but I wil tell you that he was diabetic. He dies of a stroke, not a heart attack. Docters had told him in his teens that he would not live past his 30's. They were just about right. However, some of you should have learned tthe facts before you pass judgement. Cat, Dante, Mark, Mum and Dad, Matthew and friends etc. the Vegas memorial was trully moving. Clive. 1+ Reply
