Rise Against confirmed for Warped Tour 2006

Rise Against is the first band confirmed for the 2006 edition of the Warped Tour. The band will be one of the headliners for the latest edition of the tour, which began in 1995.

Rise Against previously appeared on the 2004 iteration of the tour, and is currently on Warped's sister tour, the Taste of Chaos.

The band continues to write material for the upcoming follow up to their Geffen debut Siren Song of the Counterculture and will head into the studio in December for a projected Summer 2006 release.

This year, Fat reissued their debut, The Unravelling and their single "Swing Life Away" spent more than twenty weeks on the Billboard Modern Rock singles chart.

I'd say start with Revolutions Per Minute. Never realy dug The Unravelling when I first heard it. A year later I heard RPM and was blown away. Now I've gone back to Th Unravelling and relize it is a great record.

DEP at warped tour here in Buffalo was insane. Lightning monsoon broke out not 2 songs into their set. They kept playing, even as tour people were on stage telling Greg what to tell the crowd about keeping safe in the storm. AMAZING live show.

warped is about the perfect amount of time for them to be onstage. i saw them open for the descendents and it was incredible, at least in part because they played their best stuff and got off stage. other times where i've seen them headline they have played for way way too long. 30 minutes = perfect, though to be honest the last time i saw them on warped was 97 so it might have gotten worse since then

i've seen them 15 or 16 times, sometimes by mistake or because my girlfriend (an LTJ nut) bought me tickets. they've always been really good.. but i agree with the guy that said they sometimes play too long. I think at most an hour is best for them. They've always been very high energy and never got the "we hate eachother" look that Reel Big Fish got when we'd go see them.

an admirable viewpoint... but for the record: i am familiar with the origins of the sex pistols; i'm not some fourteen year old kid looking for the next cool to rebel against. in my opinion, the sex pistols created a musical genre, not an entire sub/counter-culture (though they did have a minor influence). as to who cares...? i do. punk saved my fuckin life (corny but true) and it greatly saddens me to see it co-opted and commercialized by corporations just to turn a buck. it saddens me to kids who are drawn into the corporations' target market, catering to the bourgeois notion of "normal teenage rebellion" , tricked into putting money in the pockets of the same pepole who build the bombs that are being dropped on families in the middle east. it saddens me to see kids who are part of a scene, but not a community. its depressing, but by no means is it the end. there are diy

i think it's that is generally lacking, not just with the more popular bands. what i realized is that the level of popularity of a band does not indicate how it's fans are. most punks these days are elitist idiots who really don't care about shit. which is why, no matter how much shit people talk about them, i still love against me. they are one of the very few bands today that actually make you feel like you are a part of something.

I'm not just dismissing them because of Siren Song. While it's true I didn't really like it for the most part, their live shows have been FAR worse lately than they used to be. Plus the whole Swing Life Away thing, and their bad Black Flag covers, being in Lords of Dogtown... it all adds up to me not really caring.

Not trying to be cliche or anything, but when did this tour become so corporate? Five years ago? More? I'm pretty sure NOFX said in an interview that they would never go to this tour if they were fans but since they are a band they find it fun. As much as I agree with that... how much more fun can they have now that half the bands on tour with them don't drink either because straight edge became a scene fashion or because they're simply not old enough? Also, as much as I would like for "The Fest" to tour, I would be too afraid that it would blow up like Warped Tour. But that would be sweet if there was a large "Fest" like that thrown in different cities in different parts of the year. Corporate-free, too! Attack!

Sorry, sir, but don't bullshit yourself about how punk has never been about "$$$." The pop-punk trend that has pretty much died down was one big capitalist grab at cash, and a bunch of bands I like were involved during that time. Big concert tours have always been about the $$$ in order to justify the expenses. If this was a small concert series, it would be different but considering the audience Warped caters to, you damn well better make some money off those hordes of people.

-AFI (new record in 06) -Anti-Flag(new record in 06) -NOFX -Rise Against -Less Than Jake (new record in 06) -Thrice (released new album a few weeks ago) -Thursday (new album in 06 i think) -Bayside (due to the exposure from Beatz's death) -Alkaline Trio (not sure why, but id bet on it) -Lars & The Bastards/Rancid (some version on them is always on) -H2O/Hazen Street -And whatever the hell Blink 182's new bands are... LTJ hopefully will be there, Trio might be... noone care for Thursday AFI would be interesting since they havent done a W.Tour since....02 or 03.

certainly a lot better than if they anounced Hawthore Height as the first headliner. hopefully they'll play a good amount of old stuff. Less Than Jake would be nice, i agree there's a good chance for NOFX. all i really ask is to throw some bands that aren't too poppy on there. i don't know off the top of my head, just something that isn't all over AP.net.

I talked to Karl at the owned and Operated tour that All headlined afew years back and he said Milo did not want to tour anymore.... So I doubt they would sign on for this shitfest...
