In Memoriam: Alan Confrey of Blood or Whiskey (1972-2006)

Alan Confrey, tin whistle player for Kildare / Dublin, Ireland's Blood or Whiskey tragically passed away this past Thursday. Alan suffered a heart attack on Thursday the 23rd at the young age of 33 just after returning home from a Scottish tour with Stiff Little Fingers in support of their recent full length Cashed Out on Culture.

His bandmates posted a short note on their website:

It's a consolation that he died at home. Anyone who knew Alan , knew that whatever he did , it was always at 100%.We love you brother.

They ask that messages of consolation be left on the band's myspace of their official website.

Our condolences go out to Alan's family and friends.

it goes without saying but way way too young to die. i wonder if he had any heart problems or warning signs prior to the heart attack. best wishes go out to his family and friends.

Wow, this is shocking...and horrible. I've met the whole band, doing an interview with them for Loud Fast Rules magazine, and Alan was truly a great guy. This just sucks...complete bummer. Rad band, rad dudes, great friends.

Fukcing hell that is terrible, i went to go see SLF in bristol on the 22nd, so i saw him at his last ever gig if he died on the 23rd. It wont be the same without him is all i can say
