They have "I love black people." t-shirts.

That's not "racism," and I understand race, especially in a dominantly polar scene, is something worth talking about and inciting discussion, but come on, Mike Park never printed up "I love asians" t-shirts. The attention he draws to his differences are tasteful and productive towards positive goals.

I'd argue that he brings attention to him being asian because he wants to use the attention to deliver a poignant social message (for instance, every Chinkees album comes with a hefty disclaimer), but I don't actually care.

they kind of make it hard not to mention it as they sing about it in half their songs and constantly talk about it on stage. i would have thought the cd was boring had i not seen them first, its fairly entertaining if nothing original. just a fun band

The thing is, if this band were a bunch of suburban white kids, everyone would just think they're another uninspired, unoriginal, mediocre pop punk band. They don't suck but they're certainly not GOOD either. I even caught myself thinking "wow they're good for a bunch of ghetto black dudes" but when it came down to it, it's not special.

I really don't dig their CD that much but their live show is amazing. Seriously they have the biggest gap between CD and live show I've ever seen and I think that's where their fan base comes from. I have a WWB CD and a t-shirt. I never listen to the CD but I'd see these guys again in a second because it's just that fun.

And really I hope that "ghetto black dudes" comment wasn't 100% serious.

i have people in my family tree who came to canada as indentured servents but i don't think i'd call that slavery (they were irish) the irish eventually got worked into the american and canadian systems properly, the blacks weren't for the simple fact that their skin is darker. poor example, my friend poor example

I'm talking about actual chained slavery(throw in a few scots and welshmen), indentured servants have always been a common place thing in all races an nationalities. And Irish people were not allowed to hold public office or be police officers in most places in Canada well into the 50's

shut the fuck up... i love when people generalize when bitching about generalization. i'm the minority where i live, and i don't whine and bitch. in fact it seems to me the majority of people who complain about race relations are the ones who are surrounded entirely by people of the same race.

Yeah well there's nothing but white people where i'm from. I'm not trying to clump all white people togther, but i'd say about 90% of the time when someone sees a black person they say the same stupid shit "I'm not racist but...i'm so sick of black people bashing white people, it really offends me, it's reverse racism blah fucking blah" it's completley mind blowing that these middle class honkey kids ACTUALLY think they're oppressed by black people. It's a joke and if anyone condones it, or thinks this, you're a fucking retard.

On reading what I just said, that comes across as projecting what is essentially a white person problem on black people, and that is not how I intended it to be. I meant to say it like this: 90% of people don't complain about reverse racism or all that. I think something like 75%* of people support affirmative action in college applications and some such. So if such a disproportionately high percentage of honky tonks think that you specifically are racist against them, maybe examine your personal demeanor.

*Entirely made up. It's a guess. SHUT UP.

agreed actually. most of the people who complain about this do it with no real basis whatsoever besides the probable fact that they're somewhat racist.

i don't now what the real problem is, there's a billboard outide my window that's in spanish and no one seems to mind here. like i said before, i think it's mostly the area you're raised in, and fear of some sort of cultural change.

I saw these guys 2 nights ago in their hometown of Jacksonville, FL. They headlined over the Matches in Florida and the place was packed. Amazing show. There is no doubt in my mind that I witnessed a band that is about to be HUGE and I think that's cool as fuck.
