PETA2 names Benji Madden, Davey Havok, Natalie Portman, Liam Wilson as Sexiest Vegetarians

PETA has announced the winners for their second annual World's Sexiest Vegetarian Poll. The nominees included Adam Carson (AFI), Adam Russell (Story of the Year), Andy Hurley (Fall Out Boy), Billy Hamilton (Silverstein), Brandon Barns (Rise Against), Casey Calvert (Hawthorne Heights), Chris Brandt (Halifax), Chris Head (Anti-Flag), Chris Hannah (Propagandhi), Ed Templeton (Pro Skateboarder), Fred Mascherino (Taking Back Sunday), Aimee Echo (TheSTART), Aixa Vilar (Go Betty Go) and many others.

Taking the top two spots were Natalie Portman and Benji Madden (of pop-rock act Good Charlotte). Runner ups included AFI's Davey Havok, Liam Wilson of Dillinger Escape Plan and Sage Francis.

Chris Hannah was a nominee for about 2 hours, but then had his name removed. I guess, technically, that still makes him a nominee, but in the end no one would have been able to vote for him.

And the news needs to stop showing horrible things? Climb out of your box. The news reports about the war in Iraq every day- but I think if people could actually get visuals of the statistics and death tolls the news reports, their view of the war would be drastically different. The media coverage in Vietnam was one of the main reasons it finally ended- People being confronted with the gruesome truth.

For the record, I'm a vegetarian/partial vegan, and I find PETA quite obnoxious.

Though I know that "Meet your Meat" (or something like that) video has made a few people I know go veggie.

I saw one of those videos and they had this chicken that was so pumped full of hormones, that it's leg broke early in it's growth from supporting all the weight from the breast meat. It was pretty sad, but all I thought about in the back of my mind was a spicy chicken sandwich from JBox and how good they taste.

the thing about those videos is, most of the techniques they showcase are how individuals kill animals, not mass farms...
theres enough government scrutiny to where oscar meyer cant get away with slaugthtering a pig by hitting it in the head with a hammer, but when i was a kid we killed turkeys by sneaking behind them and slicing their nick with a hatchet.

Well, to be honest, there is no way I'd go vegan before I move out. That's a pretty self-centered thing to do if someone else is cooking for you.

I've been considering becoming a vegetarian, and while people say "ignore PETA," I'd be constantly thrown in with them, and this. I mean, honestly, Benji Madden isn't the worst of it. I don't agree with PETA...

They have been known to force thier views upon people, and use very extreme tactics. I remember hearing stories about back in the day peta would go to "fancy" shopping areas or whatever and they would dump animal blood on anyone wearing fur coats.

Furthermore, the cause of deforestion is capitalist industry, and therefore whatever is the crop that's producing deforestation is less important than the economic system that's forcing it to happen. Heres my 2 cents on Peta/Vegiarianism.

I agree with vegiarians and vegans, in theory. I don't wear fur or believe in non-medical animal testing, I eat free range eggs and organic veggies and I don't eat veal or lamb (they're babies). Outside of that, I eat as little meat as I can stand. Chicken and stuff tastes fucking good. If I feel like eating meat, I eat meat, but most of the time I try not to. If people want to say that what I do isn't enough, they can go fuck themselves. I don't do it to impress anyone.

That being said, PETA are fucking bonkers.
Like I said, I agree with them, in theory, but they've taken their message to ridiculous levels of fanaticism. PETA are not just anti-animal cruelty. They're anti-pets, anti-zoo and extremely hypocritical.

Zoos are fucking horrible. I don't know what's so extreme about that. I disagree with the anti-pets thing, but I don't see that as a reason to discredit them. I disagree with friends about issues, and I don't consider them fucking morons.

Also, why is it better to eat an adult than a baby? Because one's cute and cuddley?

Human beings are different from animals, and animals are different from machines. So let's treat animals like animals, and not machines.

The comparison was based on racism being not accepted in society, and slaughterhouses being accepted, and therefore the same tactics could be used for both, but looked upon differently. It's brainwashing if it's a perspective you disagree with.

I hate peta, for several reasons; one i guess would be the ad campaign in which they compared the HOLOCOUST to a slaughterhouse. I mean are you fucking kidding me? You know it's funny because Davey Havock wrote or covered (fuck if I know) a song called "The Chicken Song?". That song was praising how good chicken is, not giving any indication that they hated meat or chicken in anyway.
