Strike Anywhere post song and track list for "Dead FM"

In their blog on myspace, Strike Anywhere posted today the track listing for their new album Dead FM coming out this September. They have uploaded the song "The Promise" which appeared on the recent Fat sampler iFloyd.

The band also directed fans to a video interview with lead singer Thomas Barnett conducted by Punk Insider. The interview can be found here.

my answer is, listen to their album "change is a sound" and if you still dont like them, you probably never will. that album is amazing.

They play a style of hardcore that is pretty intense yet very melodic, have great lyrics, Thomas's voice is incredible. The music is just very driving and passionate.

I was being serious. As a band who is outspoken about environmental issues as well as US foreign policy, it would be hypocritical for them to drive a van around all the time, which is both both for the environment and increases the demand for oil. That is why the band Fifteen broke up; because Jeff Ott found it very hypocritical to promote alternative uses of transportation such as bikes, and then go drive a van all over the country.

Well, thatt combined with the fact that Propagandhi prefer to stay at home so they can stay involved with the activist community is why they hardly tour. Both of those things are much more important than punk shows.

I agree, it's good to see that other people "get it". I'm no activist or volunteer or anything, in fact i'm the laziest pothead this side of Jamaica, but I still have an understanding of where these guys are coming from and totally respect their dedication the their ideals. Also wouldn't touring less make your live shows more legendary?

Fuck no it wouldn't. Look at Black Flag. Touring machines...live shows...legendary. Its about what you put into it, if you have the passion to go to each show, every night, with the intent to give the performance of your life.

Propagandhi has always made me go "hmmm...." They seem well-educated and well-spoken in their ideas, but then they do or say some really dumb shit. For those intelligent enough, I've always thought to lead by example, expecially if you are in a position to do so. To me, the "no-touring" thing really seems more like laziness, or lack of inspiration.

I agree with your first paragraph. The quality of their live show depends on the passion above all. Fall Out Boy tour all the time but their live show ain't much. Then again, The Lawrence Arms tour all the time and their live show is awesome. The Million Dollar Marxists never tour and their live show was amazing, and I'm sure I saw some band that rarely tours who had a really mediocre live show. Point is, it all depends on the level of passion put into the performance.

well would you enjoy staying in cheap motel rooms spending most of your days traveling for hours in a van? Not to mention the whole stage freight issue, its actualy hard for them to get up on stage and play.

Nice cover.

I'm not much of a SA fan. While I respect their music (and would definitely go see them live if I had the shot), it doesn't grab me. I really don't like that "Look how the ruts..." song, either.

However, Inquisition was fucking awesome. I wish they would have a reunion.

That's a pretty horrible cover, but I maintain that the new Strike album has the worst cover art of any band big enough to play the main stage or one of the larger side stages at Warped.

This news was pretty good, but here's how I'd make it better:

1. Does that mean Strike Anywhere has moved to Sirus Radio. Does FM include XFM?

2. Was the interview with Thomas a job interview? I'd love to see that

They played that song over a year ago when I saw them in Tampa with the Loved Ones and The Unseen. It sounded pretty good. But everything they do live is great so its hard to tell.

They're working on a video for Instinct in July. And there website should be up in July too so they don't have to use myspace for everything.

To answer Choking Victim's question:

1) Solid tunes all 'round. They got me with Change is a Sound. Although Exit English did not get as much praise, I found a lot to like about that. To Live in Discontent (the b-sides cd) was truly excellent. I am definitely awaiting Dead FM with much excitement.

2) Strike Anywhere seems to be one of the very few politically positive bands out there. A lot of so called political punk bands devote their energies in the wrong way. Either you get a punk band who is intelligent and worthy of your respect but much too militant for your own good. Or you get a punk band who is political in their lyrics but all ideals and preached causes are thrown out the venue door once the set is over. Or you get a punk band who wastes time and breath over "fuck this, fuck that" statements and not making a single dent in the process.

Downloaded "Change is a Sound" tried to give it a chance, my opinion: Poor man's Good Riddance, and Good Riddance isn't all that original. This vocalist isnt that great although it does sound like he's singing with conviction. The "screaming" is annoying, the music is far from anything new; like I said poor man's Good Riddance.
