Antagonist to release “Punk Rock Film School” DVD

Trever Keith's Antagonist Records has announced plans to release Punk Rock Film School. The DVD is an "instructional" disc hosted by video director Darren Doane (Blink 182, AFI, Jimmy Eat World), and is described as:

A step by step guide that can have anyone get started filming right away. Full of tricks and tips to make your music video look amazing. This DVD will get you headed in the right direction and help avoid the costly mistakes that are often made by beginners.

i dontthink a 20 dollar instructional video is a costly mistake, when figuring, bands could waste 100s of dollars if not thousands, depending on what they are trying to accomplish by trying to make their first video without help

is it just me...or do your guy's music collection consist roughy 90% of punk/hardcore genre of music? I'm 23, should I feel bad that I don't own a Neil Young or Rolling Stones album?

I don't think so my collection (only about 350 cds and vinyl) is about half punk/hardcore/ska whatever and half hip hop there are plenty of classic hip hop album no one here has but I don't think they should feel bad. I'm 19.

the beatles have a very dated sound. it isnt timeless like lots of other great music. you dont have to like the beatles to be a fan of music in general. although "fuck the beatles" may be harsh, so was your ignorant retort

That was definitely a little harsh of me, but I get tired of all the Beatles glorification. It's ridiculous how much you hear about the Beatles being the be-all, end-all to music when their marketing had a ton of influence. I'm sick of seeing images of John Lennon as being the greatest revolutionary of all time. It's fucking annoying.

I have a very wide definition of "punk/hardcore," and I only own about a dozen albums that don't fit into either genre. I'm 19, and I don't feel the need to have any more anytime soon.

I understand your point but a ton of punk bands (Off the top of my head, let's say Bad Religion, The Clash, The Ramones, Against Me!, Jawbreaker, NOFX, and A Wilhelm Scream as examples) have all made videos because its a really smart way to support an album. It also allows people to see the band to do something fun with a song they love.
