MVD plans live Bad Brains DVD recorded in 1982

MVD has announced a September 19th, 2006 release date for a live DVD from Bad Brains titled Live CBGBs 1982. On Christmas Eve 1982, Bad Brains began their three-day stint at a Hardcore Festival hosted by legendary CBGB. This DVD represents the very best of these shows, culled from over 4 hours of footage.

The shows took place shortly after the release of the legendary DC band's 1982 debut, Bad Brains.

I think this concert has been available as a bootleg for quite a while- hopefully this will be a high quality release and not just a cheap VHS to DVD dub.

The same footage is used in the American Hardcore documentary if I am not mistaken.

Search for Bad Brains live on YouTube and you will come across some clips from this.

I fucking love this band and will be camped out to buy this for sure. Bad Brains stuff from this era slays pretty much every other band ever. And I'm sure some PC fag will be on here calling these guys racist and homophobe, so let me spare you: SHUT UP QUEER!

HR is the craziest guy i have ever seen. he makes the homeless in Detroit seem perfectly sane. when "Soul Brains" played a few years ago he sat on stage with a birdcage with a canary and a duffle bag, which i heard he opened in new york and started throwing socks into the crowd from it. he also for no reason decided he didn't like one of my friends and after stopping 2 songs to yell at him, had him removed from the venue (the tour manager stopped them from throwing him out and told my friend to just avoid going anywhere HR might be able to see him so he wouldn't freak out)

funny. i thought the whole idea of renaming themselves Soul Brains was so that there would be no negative vibes or whatever.

i've only seen him sing I Against I with the Souls at warped a long time ago. never seen them for a whole show though.

Absolutely the greatest band ever. Hopefully this DVD will be a quality effort by the people putting it out...theres enough decent to half-assed stuff on the internet, so it would be nice to see more than a fuzzy show with fuzzier audio. Lets hope anyway.

I really love this band, though it's really sad to see how HR is these days. Frankly, the homophobia seems par for his entire crazy course, but it really is a shame that these guys aren't revered like some of their peers.

This DVD on the other hand, seems like it might be a nice way to see them at their peak so I'm sold.

a lot of the older cbgbs concerts that ive seen on dvd have been incredibly grainy, and the sound is generally off.

I hate how being "PC" is seen as a bad thing these days. Yeah, I have friends that say stupid shit about "fags" and it bothers me, but I rarely correct someone. However, sometimes its good to keep people on their toes and you know... shatter fucking stereotypes and ignorant intolerance that have existed for way too long. At least mainstream media has got something right...

Riot Squad's on this too and that's their best song that's more or less just a guitar solo. It'll be good to hear some Rock For Light songs sound a little rougher and ballsier.
