Dinosaur Jr robbed

Even being a legendary band like Dinosaur Jr. doesn't protect you from the parasites who steal from bands. The recently reunited band, who were on the road supporting the recent reissue of their major label albums, Green Mind and Where You Been recently suffered a significant theft while they were parked in Brooklyn, New York.

The band had this to say:

Aftr the show on August 29 in Brooklyn, the band's trailer was broken into, and lots of gear was stolen - guitars, basses, cymbals, effects pedals, etc. Please keep your eyes out for any of this missing gear in music shops, pawn shops or anywhere for that matter.

The band, who reunited with their original lineup, including the return of prodigal bassist Lou Barlow, have been touring for the past two years.

Motherfucker, I DESPISE most of the bands touring around these days (ESPECIALLY this year's Warped Tour), but I wouldn't wish any of them got robbed on the road.

Listed below is a list of gear that was stolen out of the Dinosaur Jr trailer last night (Tuesday 8.29.06) outside of their hotel in Long Island City, NY. We would appreciate spreading the word and passing this list around in hopes of recovering their gear. Feel free to send this list to any and all band, tour and production managers, guitar freaks, touring personnel, venues, musicians and or thieves that you think could help us.

Sometimes, when I hear a shitty band got robbed, I almost thing, "Good, they suck and I'm sure Captial can buy them new shit tomorrow." But then I think about the sentimental value of my guitars, and how bad it'd suck to get robbed, even if I could afford to get new stuff the next day.

I was walking though the halls in school today, complaining to my friend about all the freshmen emo kids with their Aiden shirts. Anyway, one of them was right behind me and he half-kicked me in the back of leg before walking away. i was like wtf but then dropped it b/c i realized who i was arguing with.

Does your stuff at least say Dinosaur Jr. on it? Or Denver the Last Dinosaur? That'd be more awesome, I'd buy your pedals for sure then.

Denver the Last Dnosaur, ohhhhh shit that's good, he didn't even look like any type of dinosaur I ever saw, and I used to be a dino geek when I was a kid, I used to watch that show all the time though.

Much of their gear was rare vintage stuff. Like Fender Jags from the 60. I've been told that these are worth minimum 10 grand and are literally one of a kind. I'm sure lots of their pedals and heads were no different. This is a huge bummer but maybe not that difficult to track.

After playing a show at Warsaw in Brooklyn last nite, Dinosaur Jr had their trailer broken into...J's Amma guitar, Mountain Man guitar, Lou's Rickenbacker, cymbals, pedals...everything gone.

Dinosaur Jr are in Amherst trying to patch together some gear for a show at Toads Place in Connecticut tonite, hopefully shows don't have to be cancelled.

"Unicorn Odyssey" is my second favorite. Dan's harmonies at the end of "When I Give the Signal, Run!" make that the best song on the record. So fucking good. And I was pretty skeptical at first, because I wasn't too huge on the EP. This is almost as good as Oh! Calcutta!

Still miles behind The Greatest Story Ever Told, though.

Actually J's guitars are pretty unique in appearance and the fact that they exist. There aren't a lot of beat up 1959 Jazzmasters running around the town. I say he's got a better chance than people with new and shiney Les Pauls getting stolen. Doesn't matter, J could break out a First Act guitar and make it wreck the anal cavities of all in attendance...

those jazzmasters are worth some cash(but the finish will be a turn off for regular people).

it sucks, J Mascis had his studio burn down a few years ago and I know he lost a lot of his vintage collection in the fire. now this.
