Scarlett Johansson to release Tom Waits covers album

Actress Scarlett Johansson has announced plans to enter the world of music. According to Spin, she plans to release an album of Tom Waits covers called Scarlett Sings Tom Waits.

According to the article, she will be recording her debut through the winter and is eyeing a spring 2007 release via Rhino Records' Atco label.

Tom Waits will be releasing a 3-CD set via the Anti- imprint on November 21, titled Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards. A new track was recently debuted from the upcoming collection.

this is just the thing that keeps me hating hollywood. just stick to looking like a sexpot and leave the singing to the guys who have actual hard lives. johnny depp might play keith richards in two or three movies but that don't make him even with keith richards...i'd like to admit to having several fantasies involving scarlett's lips though.

Good choice for a guy to cover, too bad I won't buy it. You know who has a good voice ? Maggie Gyllenhaal. She sang some songs in Happy Endings and they were pretty good. I still wouldn't buy a CD if she released one either. Actors act, not sing. See: Bruce Willis, Keanu Reeves, Lindsay Lohan, Russell Crowe, Eddie Murphy, and many more.

Keanu Reeves doesn't sing.

He plays bass and fairly well. His favorite bands are stuff like Joy Division and Factory Records stuff amd he said this in like 1997, so it's not inspired by Interpol or Action Action or whatever. He was born in Beirut. His father's in jail for running drugs. He doesn't have a spleen. His girlfriend died with his child inside of her. He turned down millions upon millions and Speed 2 because he thought the script sucked and would rather play with his band and be Hamlet for peanuts in a small playhouse in Canada. Also, he bought all of the crew from The Matrix Revolutions motorcycles.

Yeah, Reeves' band isn't bad. They're not too good, either. I bought the CD cheap thinking it'd be good for a few laughs. Nope. It's not bad at all, it just kinda is. Nothing to get excited about in either direction. So, I guess, as far as actors in bands go, it's a success?

oh shut up. we live in a culture based on aesthetics, first impressions, and visual representations of who we are inside on what we wear outside. shallow is simply a repercussion of a post-womens-suffrage culture, with no real base, other than girls who are not attractive being jealous of girls who are. it's not shallow to acknowledge that johannson is good looking; it's a subjective stance.

and punks are just as shallow, whether you're talking about the mohawks and the fashion or the neo-clique narcissism that comes with declaring punk being any better a lifestyle than anything else.
