Long-running Clackamas, Ore. garage-punk outfit and Sub Pop recording artist Dead Moon have announced they are breaking-up after almost 20 years together.

Guitarist/vocalist Fred Cole confirmed rumors that had recently begun circulating after several sudden show cancellations::

After 20 yrs, Dead Moon is retiring. It has been a journey we will always treasure and feel that a worldwide family has emerged in its place. Dead Moon became much bigger than the band itself, it became a DYI underground hopeful for a lot of people. The candle is still burning!

Earlier this year Sub Pop released both a two-CD retrospective Echoes of the Past, and a documentary film DVD on Dead Moon called Unknown Passage.
