Whole Wheat Bread is currently in pre-production for a new full length album which is expected to be released this summer. The album will be produced by Travis Huff (Fall Out Boy, Pharcyde), who was also behind the boards for the band's recent EP, Punk Life.
The release will be the first for new bassist CJ aka Johnny Rock who was formerly in El Pus. No word yet on whether or not any of the band's recent collaborations with Lil Jon will be on the album. WWB has recorded with the King of Crunk in studios in both Hollywood and Las Vegas. The band will soon be hitting the road on tour with Against All Authority, The Summer Obsession and Rory. The fact that this band is popular because they are black means that they are racist, in the sense that they sing about race and use it to distinguish themselves. Like I have said time and time again, shity pop-punk is not about race, its about shitty music. And what a shitty band they are! 6+ Replies

Saw them and I wasn't impressed but they have quite a huge following apparently. You never know though, this album could be great.

are they going to focus on writing good songs rather than about how black they are in a white boy's genre?

jesus christ, the more stories on WWB there are, the more the racist ignorant trolls come out and show their true colors. 6+ Replies

Fuck all who call this band a 'gimick', they play quality pop/punk that few bands can pull off at this point. Fun live band as well. 5+ Replies

I usually have fun during their set when they are constantly opening for Streetlight Manifesto. 1+ Reply

shouldn't their name be Pumpernickel Bread. you know, because they're colored. 4+ Replies

I can't think about Whole Wheat Bread without the following statement....

Wow, this topic is lame. Couldn't all of this been said in like 5 posts instead of 100?
Someone (February 10, 2007)
Man this place is full of judgmental idiots. They have only sang about being black twice. Once in an anti-racist song. What the flying fuck are you people talking about? If you don't like their music, fine. But when you insist that being black makes them a gimmick, you're just being a prejudiced asshole.
Someone (February 10, 2007)
If black wasn't a gimmick, they wouldn't sell shirts that simply say "I Love Black People". 2+ Replies

Main Entry: 1gim·mick Pronunciation: 'gi-mik Function: noun Etymology: origin unknown 1 a : a mechanical device for secretly and dishonestly controlling gambling apparatus b : an ingenious or novel mechanical device : GADGET 2 a : an important feature that is not immediately apparent : CATCH b : an ingenious and usually new scheme or angle c : a trick or device used to attract business or attention They're not a gimmick, as soon as you see them, you can tell that the band is comprised of black people! They formed a band llegitimately, they weren't manufactured like the sex pistols or n-sync! They do play up their race as a unique point and attempt to gain new fans simply because they are black people who play pop-punk. That is a little shameless, but it's not like a band of white guys read 'Black Like Me show rest of comment

I can't believe all the hate for this band. Black or white, gimmick or not, this band is FUN. They play accessible catchy music, and put on an entertaining live show. Yeah, they aren't pushing the envelope, and yeah, they use being black to their advantage, but it's punk music - why is everyone approaching this band like critics? 4+ Replies

From what I heard, the tracks they did with Lil Jon are going to be on his next album, not theirs, although I wouldn't be surprised to see him make an appearance on their next disc.

Come on, guys! Stop being racist and remember all the equipment that they stole. 1+ Reply

say what you will, but if lil jon offered to do a collab with me i'd do it in a heartbeat.

well obviously RANCID, BOUNCING SOULS, SUICIDE MACHINES don't think they're a gimmick as all those bands have invited them to open. obviously LIL JON doesn't think they're a gimmick on the rap side. get used to it haters - this band isn't going away and are only going to get more popular. I see their band tshirts everywhere, at the mall, school, etc.

I don't understand why everyone hates this band. They write fun, catchy punk rock that is, in my opinion, enjoyable. Black or not, I fuckin' like 'em.
Someone (February 10, 2007)
why the hell are they headlining over AAA. I will admit they have one or two songs i enjoy, but most of it sounds like the starting line 1+ Reply
