Rivalry signs Soul Control (ex-Verse, ex-What Feeds the Fire)

Rivalry Records have signed Providence, RI's Soul Control, a band featuring former members of Verse and What Feeds the Fire. The band is apparently influenced by 108, Bad Brains, Bane, and Strife.

The band's future plans include heading into the studio April 18-20 for their next 7"/CD, making an appearance at Sound and Fury Fest in July, and heading out on a US tour with Verse beginning in August.

Man, I gotta tell you I work in a record store and of all the types of music people buy there hardcore kids are the least conscious or interested in the true roots of their scene. Few kids or bands seemed to be influenced or aware of even the early 90's Victory scene, let alone the late 80's Revelation scene or even earlier. I find it to be the most bizaare phenomonon. We sell old punk shit and classic metal shit all fucking day but so much of that old hardcore just sits on the shelves. The area I live has a pretty healthy scene and lots of kids come out to the shows, so this confuses the shit out of me.

Soul control was the title of a (still not released) album or EP by Into another. It was Richie from underdog's band in the mid-90's. That might be where this band got their name. Although into another were far from hardcore.
