Engineer has announced plans for a tribute to 90s-era punk/post-punk act Seaweed. The Tacoma, Washington-based band started out releasing material on their own Leopard Gecko imprint in 1989, before moving
onto a vinyl single with K Records, signing to Sub Pop a few years later for their career building albums
"Despised," "Weak," and "Four." Then Hollywood Records picked the band up in 1993 and released their largest album
to date, 1995's "Spanaway," their bombastic major label offering. Lasting only 1 album on Hollywood, the band and
label unhitched and Seaweed then moved back to the indies. Merge Records issued their final release in 1999,
"Actions and Indications" turned into their swan song and the band split later the same year. Seaweed's decade
of existence came to an end.
The producers of the compilation describe their sound as "post-Black Flag, Dischord-esque, Minneapolis-tinged rock." The compilation is still in the early phases with the label looks for interested parties to get in touch via Engineer Records. Engineer Records (53 comments)

"Well in that pic where i have the caption a night i will never forget in Iraq. We were all loaded up in our AmTracks to go fight in a Graveyard but after 2hrs of sitting there waiting to go we had our mission canceled and We found out later that we all would have died because they had many machine gun nests everywhere and Rockets and everything, they had bombs planted to go off and blow us up they had bombs in the side of the walls a long the road we were going to be driving thru and it was really bad situation. But they just called in Air Support and dropped a 500pound bomb and took out everything lol!" 3+ Replies

wow. why? I liked seaweed, but i doubt anyone would make their songs sound better than they were. especially when their biggest hit was a fleetwood mac tune. 1+ Reply

I met these guys in 91, and they were some of the coolest guys to chat to. They played an afternoon show, and then stayed around to chat for hours even though they had another show to play in another city 21 hours away the next day. Fucking great live too.

Great, great band. Saw them on their tour supporting Four. Start With and Kid Candy are still a couple of my favourite songs.
