Tours: The Ataris

The Ataris have announced their summer touring plans. The band is supporting their 2007 full length, Welcome the Night. Plans are for the band to perform with a variety of groups including Whole Wheat Bread, 1944 and many others. Besides a series of US dates, the band has booked an appearance at the Fuji Rock Festival in Tokyo, Japan.

these guys have put out a couple of great releases (blue skies and the ep before it are untouchable) but they are fucking boring live

1982 is one of the Fest venues i think, and it's quite small if i remember correctly

I was thinking the same thing regarding the venue size ... but this is defnitely not the same band that was riding the success of So Long, Astoria.

i love these guys live, but their latest record just leaves me cold. i really enjoyed everything before that. even astoria.

i really liked so long astoria, might be my favorite by the band, but i just couldnt get into this new cd, i saw them play about a year ago (and they played alot off Welcome To The Night) it was the most boring show i ever witnessed. Kiss Kiss made it worth the 10 bucks

I ilke their new album better than astoria actually. It takes awhile to get into, but it's really not that bad, save for 2 or 3 songs.

The lead singer was selling a couple of their original lyric sheets (out of his notebook) and their gold record (and a few other things) on e-bay.
On the page it was linked to, a NES was also for sale and at one point was selling for more than one of the lyric sets (the NES also had more time left on the auction).

It's out of order, but this is pretty much all they played when I saw them on Saturday. It was fantastic. The only thing I was sad about was that they didn't play "Resisting Tyrannical Government."

I saw them last Friday and they totally went off, I didn't expect them to be that tight or that good. That bass player is a giant. 10 out of 10 show (excluding the opening bands).

i worked the door for their show here around when the album came out. they played a pretty decent mix i think. i don't really know that much off the albums other than blue skies though

when I saw them on the welcome the night tour, they played 6 songs off of End is Forever, 5 from Astoria, and 2 from Blue Skies. The rest was all off the new album

they played for like 2 hours, i was working for an hour of it, so i know at least part of the answer. the songs off the new album are really easy to spot

wow. this band was all over the radio and huge with that don henley cover a few years back.

now they are playing the same tiny bars we played the last time we went to florida.

big daddy's in tallahassee can't hold more than 100 people. cool place though.

My band was offered a spot to open the NJ show, but they are asking us to sell 100 tickets. Anyone think it is slightly plausible to sell that many within two and half weeks?

that's usually the promoter's call. 100 is a lot though, are you guys getting any sort of cut on those? there is a venue here in detroit called harpos that does that and i've heard doesn't pay anything out of that money, you just get to play a 15 minute set in front of 300 skinheads bfore mushroomhead or whatever quality band they are bringing in that day

This band died when the original members except Kris left. I'm glad the others saw sense and left before this disgrace of a band came about. The Ataris will always be everything up until their latest album. It just isn't the Ataris if you don't play Teenage Riot, Kris Roe should have left the band and started a new band and done the crap that is on the new Ataris album under a different name. It's really sad to think a band that played so well in support of the Vandals in 2001 are reduced to this shite. I'm not a huge fan but they were great live and had a few stand out tracks. Damn you Kris Roe for destroying a great band, all just to go on a big ego trip.
