My point is, neither band has put out good music in 20 years (at least). Neither band really stands for anything anymore. Both bands play shows for a bunch of aged nostalgic people who want to remember "the good days" or kids who wish they were in "the good days", not for fans who are actually concerned with the here and now or the present activities of said band.
Both bands made a huge impact in their time but have done little more than stagnate, age and live off of songs written over 20+ years ago. I think that's a pretty apt comparison.

the stones are one of the most important bands in rock and roll history. they still have a majority of the original members and they've never lost their integrity unlike the assclowns that now call themselves "the misfits". when you go see the stones in concert, at least you're seeing some semblance of the past. you couldn't pay me to go see the misfits. in my opinion, they're basically just a shitty cover band playing misfits songs.

I was at the butchers buying meat on the weekend and a PiL song came on the muzak - it was one of those truly strange (in a good way) moments.

PiL is incredible, much better than the Pistols in my opinion. Get "Metal Box" or "First Issue" to start.

Lydon seems very unlikely to reunite the Pistols or even PiL for an album (I'm interested to see what explanation he gave for the Pistols reunion tours, though) but another solo album would be great.

And finally, it's a shame some people still think the Sex Pistols were a prefab band.... they've probably been watching The Great Rock 'N Roll Swindle, which is actually a fictional movie, and not that great either.

But not by him and he didnt play the bass tracks on the record so the point still stands. I beleive the only one he actually wrote was the lyrics to "Belson was a Gas".

If you can't at least get into suffer or no control than your taste in music is irrelevant and you should quit being a lone keyboard warrior. Those two records and the fact that they were a major influence to a lot of great bands might be why so many people rave about them, but what do I know i' m no "punk".
