Punknews.org Feature: On the Road With The Gaslight Anthem

For my first update from my two week excursion with New Jersey's The Gaslight Anthem, I've uploaded a special video on the road. Here's some footage from a stop on the tour in Normal, IL. Unknown to us prior to the show, the host of the party had booked the band as an engagement present to his fiancee, and proposed to her in the middle of the set. Congratulations to the lucky couple!

that whole verse part that ends with the judy garland/tin-man heart is my favorite part on the album. good song.

dude... looks and sounds good but you need to throw some b-roll over some of that footage. you're on tour with them. you must have other video besides them playing. spice it up. then again, if you're on tour you probably don't have a lot of time to edit things together. also, maybe it's my computer but the audio and video don't match.

good start, but I'll be expecting improvements next time around.

I need some help from those in the guitar-know

i'm looking to buy a decent guitar to start of playing. i have an acoustic, but i just want to rock that fucker. im looking for fairly cheap but good, play stuff along the lines of Nasum, Strung Out, TETA-Prop, D.R.I.

Yamaha Pacifica or Ibanez SA?

out of the two? ibanez for what you want to play. if i were you, which i'm not, i'd look for a more versatile guitar like a fender telecaster or stratocaster or something by gibson.

the biggest mistake in buying a beginner guitar is not spending enough money. the less you spend, the cheaper the guitar, the harder it will be to play, and the less likely you will be to stick out learning how to play guitar. get a fender or a gibson, but if you absolutely can't afford that then ibanez tend to be fairly playable, but they don't last that long.

strats always sound like the way to go, i keep hearing how great these yamaha pacificas are...better than squier strats it sounds like

it's not that the guitar itself won't last (depending on how good of a guitar it is), it's the fact that you can only go so far with a beginner guitar. i think that the point that the other poster made about spending a lot on your first guitar so you'll want to stick to it is very on point. people give up on things quickly and i think it has a great deal to do with the grade of the equipment. either way, the first two or three years with any instrument are the hardest and if you can get through that, you'll be thankful that you spent the extra dough on a more playable guitar.
