The Ataris have announced some tour dates kicking off late next month. The band is touring in support of their latest album, Welcome the Night.

So Long Astoria was such a great album, they fucked up big time with Welcome The Night. 3+ Replies

i bought their gold record on ebay. what a let down. not only was the record covered in tin foil and spray painted gold, but there was a note inside from kris asking if i knew any places that had free housing and how to apply for welfare. 2+ Replies

What a cool name to waste on a mediocre band. I wish I had a band named "The Ataris." Dead serious. 3+ Replies

Wow. They were huge in '03, and now they're playing at the fucking Beat Kitchen? 1+ Reply

Actually, I'm promoting the Pittsburgh show, and was told that the set list is more centered on End is Forever, So Long Astoria, and Blue Skies... and maybe a song from Look Forward. 2+ Replies

Off Broadway? That place is fucking tiny AND it's a bar so 80% of their fa base in St. Louis WON'T be able to attend. I saw them at Mississippi Nights before "Astoria" came out and it was so much fun. I just wish Kris would stop trying to be something he's not and just stick to writing amazing pop-punk songs. 1+ Reply

Say what you will, but the Ataris ruled for a pop punk band. Got the audience into the set, Kris Roe was really friendly and cool to everyone before and after their set. I admit the band is a guilty pleasure of mine, but they shouldn't exist anymore, the new album is like a Kris Roe solo experiemental project...and it sucks. Like Angels and Airwaves without the jesus complex.

It's kind of a bummer because this just shows how fickle mainstream can be. They had one album that was huge and a few years later they're selling albums to pay rent. 4+ Replies

I wonder if there's a direct correlation between enthusiasm for this band and Kris Roe's hairline? Discuss.

kris was corresponding with me on myspace basically begging and hounding me to help book a small show for him. i couldn't believe any venue wouldnt be happy to have the ataris. i mean, i dont think the ataris had trouble booking tours when they werent as big when "anywhere but here" "blue skies" etc were out. whats the deal? also, how did he lose his money so fast. wonder if the new record was really expensive to record. what a shitfest the cd is. 1+ Reply

I bought End Is Forever when it came out trying to get into this band...I subsequently returned it and never gave them another chance
Someone (August 15, 2007)
there playing all old shit on this tour and kris said in a blog that the new record will be ''fast rock songs''
Someone (August 15, 2007)
if these guys even resembled the band i loved when i was growing up, i'd be there, but i don't know who they are anymore. 1+ Reply
