Frontman Dustin Kensrue noted:
I don't know why anyone would want to listen to a band playing the same thing, album after album, Being in a band is like being in a marriage, you have to work at it to keep it up.
According to the story, the album will include "skittish electronics, bludgeoning rock riffs and acoustic musings similar to Kensrue's recent solo album." As to their major label experiences, Thrice notes that they aren't looking for stardom:

I ONLY listen to bands that stay the same. That sound is what makes a band "a band". If I wanted to hear different sounds, noises, and ideas I guess I would probably listen to a different band. Last.
