Atreyu has been confirmed as the headliner for the upcoming 2008 edition of the Taste of Chaos tour. The band is celebrating a big opening week for their major label debut, Lead Sails Paper Anchor which hit #8 on Billboard.
The band's frontman, Alex Varkatzas, also recently recorded a live video talking about what he feels are his top 5 most influential punk bands. You can check out the list and Alex's explanation video here. Buena Vista Entertainment (36 comments)

I think what he really meant to say was Sum 41, Avenged Sevefold, Good Charlotte, Linkin Park and Staind 2+ Replies

Can anybody think of any "epic" punk songs? 8+ Replies

So, does he mean the most influential punk bands IN GENERAL or to him. It's not that clear. Because if he's in Atreyu and they are supposed to influence him specifically (ie musically) then what the fuck happened?

Lead Sails Paper Anchor debuted at #8, which is higher than A Death-Grip on Yesterday, but Death-Grip sold much more than Lead Sails did its first week. (69,000 vs. 43,000)

Ha! I covered like the first Taste of Chaos tour years back and these douchebags opened...my wife tagged along, she has used this band as the benchmark for bad bands ever since.

Wow. Dude can't even put a sentence together. And did he just say that London Calling and Give Em Enough Rope were the first two Clash records?

He forgot to say they were inspired by Darkest Hour. I remember someone making an mp3 comparison of a riff from Atreyu and a riff from Darkest Hour and they were the exact same thing (as well as the vocal melody).
