Trailer for Slackers documentary posted

The trailer for a new film spotlighting beloved American ska band, The Slackers is now available online. The documentary features interviews with the band's principals, live performances and more.

The long-running band released Peculiar last year.

What's with the rumors of Slackers not being on Hellcat anymore? Any validity to this?

hope its not true, this is one of those bands you want to keep in your back pocket, so that no mass bullshit company can ruin them, I think hellcate has done a great job with them ( as far as I can tell) and letting them go ( if that is whats happening) would suck ( and tim would be nuts for letting the slackers get away, my 2 cents-oldpunker-

I was thinking the same thing this weekend. I bought their boss harmony sessions cd at the ISC. I asked the merch guy if they were not on Hellcat, as the cd was self released. He said they still are, the cd is "sort of a side project". I don't know how a full length, under the Slackers moniker is a side project. You would think Hellcat would want to release it.

the re-release of Better Late Than Never wasn't on Hellcat. Their dub record wasn't on Hellcat.

Two out of Three live albums aren't on Hellcat.

It's weird.

That is true. Maybe they have some crazy contract where they have to only release all new material LP's on Hellcat. Everything else maybe too eclectic for Hellcat's taste.....

Better Late Than Never was originally on Moon, and I'm sure they had to go through hell to get it back. I'd bet that a) they'd want to keep it themselves and make sure it stays in print, and b) Hellcat wouldn't be too interested in re-releasing a ska CD from 1996.

I like that album (mostly for "Sarah" and "Pedophilia"), but the reissue is probably just for hardcore fans that don't have it already. I don't think its too weird.

through my chats online.....i understood that there obligation to Hellcat is per record. Which allows them to release records like Boss Harmony and such.

maybe Hellcat passed on this album but i don't think they are done with them...hellcat just releases records from Aggrolites and WBT, they would be suckas to pass on another Slackers full release.
