Bloc Party to release single next month

Bloc Party have announced that they have completed work on a new single, due out both on CD and 7-inch in the UK, and digitally in North America. The record is titled Flux and is due out November 20, 2007. It is the follow-up to A Weekend in the City which was released in 2007.

According to fansite blocparty.net, the song will be backed by "Emma Kate's Accident" on the CD and live favourite "The Once And Future King" on the viny versionl. 'Flux' was recorded by Jacknife Lee, during the band's week in the studio after Reading and Leeds.

The band will be appearing on Conan O'Brien tonight and are promising to debut the song there.

I didnt like Weekend in the City as much. Some really good songs, but overall it was disappointing. Although having most of the songs about coming out of the closet was interesting..

By covering non-punk music they draw in a larger audience, hopefully showcasing this genre of music to people who never would have heard it before.

The fact that there's an occasional Brit / Indie-pop / whatever band covered should not diminish the fact that so many otherwise-obscure bands could be presented to other people who aren't in the "scene"

interestingly, i dont listen to a lot of punk....but i love converge, an dstarting using this site after being linked here from converges website when No Heroes came out, and this site reviewed it.

since then I have found some punk bands that i really like such as TLA, The Flatliners, Smoke or Fire, probably a few more.

Im really glad this site doesnt JUST cover punk, and by doing so, they are definitly helping to expand the punk audience.

have you ever even listened to bloc party? sure they don't repeat the same three power chords over and over while adding in a bunch of "ooohs" - but they definitely touch on social issues. check out hunting for witches...

Wow... 2 albums in 1 year. These guys kick ass! They're amazing live too. Get the crowd going very easily.

That last comment is uneccessary. If you're a fan of their music or not, their sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. you should write stuff like that on TMZ, where people might actually care. Douche.
