While this breaks the unspoken rule about advertising "sales" that we have here at the Org, this seems like the kind of thing a lot of you (Richard) would be into. Mike Park and his crack team of cute babies are selling off test pressings of albums, singles, splits and EPs. Of note are copies of the Broadways' Big City 7", Alkaline Trio's Halloween 7" and Maybe I'll Catch Fire 12" as well as a whole host of releases from the Bruce Lee Band, Duvall, MU330, Link 80 and more. You can check out the whole list here.

test pressings have all the negatives of records and none of the positives 1+ Reply

I'll be the first to mention a band that has nothing to do with this. NORTHSTAR! Man, I miss Northstar. 2+ Replies

I see Mike is holding out to the test pressing of Goddamnit for when he really needs money. I'd guess close to $400 for that, which is way out of my league.

Also, it's kind of ironic that Justin brings this up as I haven't actually bid on any of these records. I probably won't either. I see very few of the ones I'd be interested in going for much less than $100. But I'm way interested to see how high those Alkaline Trio ones will go.

from what i remember mike saying, all the money that he gets from his tests will go towards him daughters college education so thats pretty cool. I hope I win at least 1 of them.

i really dont understand the desire to own test pressings. i'd much rather have a cover/insert and colored wax.
allison_le_gnome (November 3, 2007)
I hope I never become obsessed with record collecting enough to spend a ridiculous amount of money on test pressings. I just preordered the Get Warmer repress when I already own the picture disc, which is about as far as I'm willing to go.

I like Alkaline Trio, a lot, but there is no way in hell I would pay $127 for anything, much less a test pressing. That's just retarded.
