Popular grassroots candidate Ron Paul was recently the subject of a montage assembled by his supporters. The video attempts to show some of his positions and comes accompanied by Angels and Airwaves's "Secret Crowds."

Hell yes! I really wish I was of voting age. And Ron Paul is 100000 times punker than Angels and Airwaves. 4+ Replies

ron paul is a christian fundementalist with a libertarian streak. a vote for ron paul is a vote for social conservatism. he is against gay rights, a womans right to choose and thinks that laws on sodomy should be left up to the state. he wants to end federal funding for education on all levels and give the states the choice of even having public education. education is the cornerstone to freedom and ron paul thinks that people with money deserve it more than the poor. he is also a doctor that dismisses evolution. 7+ Replies

Let's see, in 2000 we had Ralph Nader, in '08 we've got Ron Paul, its great to see the tradition of backing candidates who have absolutely no chance of being elected is alive and well. As far as I'm concerned, there's no difference between voting for Ron Paul than voting for the Socialist Party candidate or just drawing a big anarchy symbol on your ballot. 8+ Replies

i go back and forth on the guy there's things i love about his positions like: -ending the War on Drugs -ending the War on Terror -withdrawing from the WTO -against domestic surveillance and national IDs but then there's things i strongly disagree with like: -his abortion stance -his immigration stance (voting for the border fence) -environmental protection -health care all that being said....i'd still consider myself more of a collectivist where he's obviously very much an individualist...and i don't agree with a lot of his free market fantasies but on the other hand, he (and Kucinich to a point) are the only candidates who really understand the dynamics of the social/economic travesty of the drug war and it's ramifications on sooo many other parts of society, an issue i feel is far show rest of comment 3+ Replies

i love how so many uninformed people on here claim a vote for Paul is a vote for corporatism. Paul is quite possibly the most anti-corporate candidate in the entire race, more than even Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel. not only has he accepted ZERO corporate dollars for his campaign, he is the only candidate who would completely abolish corporate welfare and corporate tax breaks. this idea that he's a corporatist is a crock of shit made up by people who obviously have not read the issues. and no i do not agree with everything Dr. Paul says, particularly on domestic policy. i'm very liberal, however, i'm voting for Paul strictly because he is the only candidate in either parties who will get us out of Iraq immediately and will end the U.S Empire. Obama won't do it, Clinton won't do it, Edwards won't do it. Paul will. i show rest of comment 14+ Replies

There are a number of things I don't like about Dr. Paul and there are a number of things I really like about Dr. Paul. The one thing I dislike most about him is the fact he wants to dismantle WORKING federal programs and organizations. Why get rid of the EPA? I mean are they perfect? No. But it's definitely not the worst federal organization. I can't imagine what states that can't even be bothered to have car emissions would do as far as state governmental laws on environmental issues. I can get behind destroying federal programs that don't work. Getting rid of programs that work is just inefficient and stupid because it's all in the name of principle rather than reality. 2+ Replies

This guy scares the shit out of me. "What kind of society to Ron Paul supporters hope for? They want a limited national government. They distrust the government to the extent it would become virtually non-functional in its current capacity. Any national civil rights or social services program would be eliminated under Ron Paul's government. For example, the civil rights act of 1964 would have never happened. Most importantly, Ron Paul does not believe in the value of protecting universal gay rights or a universal right of a woman to choose to have an abortion. He believes these moral questions should be settled at the local level. Somehow, what is morally right in one region can be morally wrong in another region under Ron Paul." "Ron Paul has a strong distrust of World Organizations and international cooperation. He wants total withdraw from all international org show rest of comment 3+ Replies

This guy is a lunatic. I agree with him on some points (abortions, evolutionism, some fiscal issues etc) but when it comes to foreign policy, he is, to put it mildly: a fucking disaster. Not only does he want to appease the Islamofascists by pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan, he wants to pull out of the middle-east completely. Basically he's just another blame-America first candidate who thinks by covering our eyes and ears the terrorists will leave us alone. He's more dangerous to the security of this country than any other candidate, Republican or democrat. 7+ Replies

if he was the "corporate candidate" like some of you are blindly insisting, i would love to know why the corporate media has done absolutely everything under their power to ignore and smear his campaign, while giving millions and millions of dollars to candidates like Clinton. doesnt really add up, does it? they know that dismantling the military industrial complex - which so many defense contractors and corporations are dependent on - will take away their billions of dollars. Clinton poses no threat to this, Obama doesnt, Romney certainly doesnt, Huckabee probably doesnt even know what the military industrial complex means. candidates that will continue the military industrial complex, continue the massive bail-outs and subsidies, continue the corporate welfare, and continue taking millions of dollars of special interest money will ALWAYS be the "corporate candida show rest of comment 2+ Replies

Frankly, I don't agree how you anti-Ron Paul posters (I should insert now that I lean left and am not backing any politician at the moment) are pulling bills he signed out of your asses to prove he's a “nutjob.” EVERY congressman has voted for questionable things. Also, while his stance on abortion, the UN, evolution and immigration are regrettable, I think everyone has to admire how he is becoming, slowly a top tier candidate with NO corporate finding and a desire to change America without the crutch of special interests. Surely, as liberals (I’m sure most of you are) you guys want Ron Paul to get the Republican nomination over a wolf in sheep’s clothing (Romney), a war-monger (Rudy) or crazy Christian loon (Huckabee), right? 5+ Replies

I’ve skimped the thread over, gave a couple quick replies, but for the most part I’ve tried to refrain from getting into petty arguments. Ron Paul still scares the shit out of me, over the vast majority of his policies, however I’m not a registered republican, and thus my opinion of him won’t really matter, since I cannot vote in the primaries.

You have to remember that Ron Paul doesn't really refer to himself as a Libertarian. He has on occasion but he usually states that he is a "Constitutionalist" ie someone who has a very, very strict and literal interpretation of the Constitution. His supposed "libertarianism" comes from the fact that the US Government has grown exponentially larger then what was originally established and he wants to scale it down to the original ideas based of off the said document.

ron paul is a massive tool, but i hope he wins. i then want him to implement all his great ideas about the free market and taxes. in two years when anyone who is not a person of the top 1% is working 20 hour days for less than minimum wage now we can all rejoice together about what a visionary and a breath of fresh air paul is. 1+ Reply

i still think his stance on the federal reserve/irs is one of the most important issues. i don't know about all of you, but i'd feel a whole lot better if that 25-35% of my paycheck went somewhere that would benefit the country, not just to pay back interest on the money loaned to us from the federal reserve, which is run by a bunch of RIDICULOUSLY wealthy people who run pretty much everything from behind their curtain and need to go die. or... you know, i could just not have any of that 25-35% of my paycheck given to the IRS and i could be a whole hell of a lot better off financially than i am right now. why should over 1/4 of my life spent at work be taken away from me for absolutely no reason? its ridiculous. this is the main reason i support ron paul. though i do disagree with many of his stances. this one seems like it should be a little more important
